Historical and Entertaining
Informative and love the pictures. The book documents a great many of the Great Smoky Mountains Elkmont regions houses. The NPS decided because of environment issues and funding issues to destroy the majority of the buildings in Elkmont. This book and some resources online are part of the record that this era of the Great Smoky Mountains happened. Makes your imagination go. Makes me hope for a place like these people had.

Gaining an understanding of the people and events of this popular section of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park gives deeper meaning to any visitor walking the trails of this gorgeous area. Detailed photographs and descriptions of eras and people long gone bring the story of Elkmont to life. Mr. Paulin's meticulous documentation truly captures the spirit of the location and it's people. I highly recommend this book to park visitors or anyone who desires to expand their view and knowledge of the most visited US National Park.

This was a great book!Every book I've ever ordered from this series has been stellar!I thought we were going to loose Elkmont once and for all with the recent fire in the Smokies, but thankfully, it was spared! No one should hesitate buying any book in this series because they are always a great compilation of photos and text!

Excellent First Book by Daniel Paulin
Daniel Paulin captures an excellent pictorial history of a small but interesting section of what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Being part of the "Images of America" series, the bulk of LOST ELKMONT consists of vintage photographs of the titular area but Paulin's superb writing skill shines through in his chapter introductions and in his picture captions.
