A Little Off The Top: An Einhell Power X-Change 18-Volt 20” Cordless Hedge Trimmer Review
I own more power tools than I need, which include a fair number of Einhell products. As a homeowner and an active landlord, I use my power tools regularly. However, I’m allergic to the outdoors and don’t have any hand-held lawn and garden power tools. Well, that is until a house residing project led me to purchase these hedge trimmers. The Einhell Power X-Change 18-Volt 20” cordless hedge trimmers, made in China, uses the same battery as my Einhell power tools. Since I have several batteries, I opted to purchase the tool without the battery kit and save some money. I have a yard guy, so I don’t know how much use I’d get from this tool once my project is completed.Einhell requests online activation of the 2-year warranty and provides an additional 90 days for the effort. The first time I activated an Einhell warranty, I entered the provided URL and was redirected to a Snow Joe page. Initially, I distrusted this page and thought I entered something wrong. Now I know this redirect is legitimate and I log into my Snow Joe account to register new products. I clicked the button for warranty registration and provided the SKU and S/N found on the heel of the handle. These hedge trimmers come with a blade cover which can be used for hanging storage. Additionally, the tip of the blade has holes for pegboard storage without the blade cover. To operate the hedge trimmers, I needed to depress a button on both the handle and the steady grip. Requiring two hands for operation is a great safety feature, that helps keep fingers where they belong. The blades are sharp and cut through outer layers of hedges and ground cover easily. The trimmer doesn’t have enough power to glide through woodier brush, a little patience or a separate tool may be needed. Fortunately, I haven’t had issues trimming my abelia shrubs and Asian Jasmine ground cover. I only experience a hesitation when I come across something unexpected growing in my thick ground cover. If you have several Einhell 18V batteries and need hedge trimmers, the Einhell Power X-Change 18-Volt 20” cordless hedge trimmers are a good option to consider.► PROS:Blade coverRequires two-handed useMetal gears for longer lifeCordless system2-year warranty► CONS:Battery and charger must be purchased separately
