Game changer
As someone with baby fine hair, tangles have plagued me throughout my life. Not only does my hair work itself into knots at my neck when dry, combing it out after washing has always been a painful experience. As most with fine hair can attest: heavy detangling products can help, but forget about having any volume.I have tried nearly every comb/brush I've come across that claims to detangle well, but none really have. I return to combing out my wet hair with a lift/pick. Same occurs when I go to the salon; the stylist pulls out his/her comb or brush, and I settle in for 15 minutes of them tugging through my hair and swearing under their breath.A month ago I went to my current stylist for an overdue cut. After shampooing my hair, she pulled out this Finger Brush and I braced myself for the detangling ritual. I knew it wouldn't go well, as my hair had grown fairly long and there were split ends (tangle nirvana.) Within a minute my hair was combed out...no pain, no ripping noises, no muttered profanity. It caught me off guard, quite honestly. I made her stop and tell me how she managed this feat I have not accomplished in 4 decades of living with this head of hair. Thus, I was introduced to the Finger Brush.I found this little miracle on Amazon, and after it arrived I have realized that not only does it work well with wet hair, it also seems to produce less static than my other paddle brushes when my hair is dry. Another bonus is that the design of the bristles provides a nice scalp massage. The detangling is key to me, of course, and I am constantly amazed I can brush out my hair without leaving clumps of it in the brush now.I never would imagine I would evangelize about a hair brush, but this is one of those products that simply works well and has become an instant essential.

A+ design, not sure about longevity
This is an excellent brush design. The "small" size is a standard vent brush (I can't imagine using the medium or large). It's light weight, the prongs are spaced well (not too dense, not too open) and are nicely bendable, and the structure of the brush head -- center column flanked by two outer arms anchored only at the base -- makes it extra flexible and gentle. The finishing touches are great as well : I love that the collar separating handle from head has a tight seam and has never grabbed my hair (which is rare), and I've never had any of the little beads come off the bristle ends (also rare).HOWEVER. The material used for the brush head is very porous and EXTREMELY brittle plastic. My first lasted maybe six months before one of the outer arms snapped in half. Olivia Garden does have a great warranty, and sent me a replacement in just a few days after I contacted them via email. I had hoped that I just got a bad batch -- I have long fine naturally straight hair that I wear curly, but it's not "difficult" hair at all. The brush was used gently, never traveled, never went in my handbag, never left the bathroom counter, and was never even dropped on the floor. Unfortunately, my replacement brush suffered the same fate of a broken outer arm last week. I've probably owned at least fifty hair brushes in my life, and I have never had one break. Now I've broken TWO of these in a year and a half. For a five dollar Goody from the drugstore, that would be annoying. For a $20+ brush, it's really unacceptable.I told evvvvvverybody about this brush, holy cow best brush ever, GET ONE. And that would still be true -- all they'd have to do is replace the porous brittle material of the head with a much more dense/rubbery/flexible plastic (which seems like a no-brainer for a brush design that's MEANT to be flexible). I still love their wonderful (and very sturdy) Ceramic Ion line, but I'm done with this one unless/until they swap out the materials.** UPDATE MAY 2016 : I was recently contacted by a CS rep from Olivia Garden, saying they had just now seen my Amazon review (after a whole year, they're still checking!). She said that the issue was indeed a manufacturing flaw -- the bristles were being attached with staples going horizontally instead of vertically, which affected the structural integrity of the plastic arms. That issue has been corrected, and she sent me *yet another* replacement brush for free! This one does have its bristles attached with vertically-oriented staples (I had thrown the broken ones away, so I couldn't compare) -- I've only been using it for a week, so time will tell if this change is sufficient to prevent it from breaking. But they certainly get enormous kudos for such stellar customer service!

Good brush for thick hair
I have very thick and long hair and this brush works really well. It gets rid of tangles very easily and does not cause much pain at all. The only problem I have had before is that a whole section broke off while trying to get out a knot. It has happened twice before but I had had the brushes for quite a while at that point, they were probably close to going anyways, and they were big knots that I was trying to get out.

Absolutely love it!

A brush that helps me style my hair.
This is the third hair brush through the years. The brush has small round tips. The brush works well and the tangle does not pull the hair. My hair is smooth and pretty.
