They work as advertised!
I used these pads to polish 18 sqft of 2 1/4 inch hearth stone with a variable speed polisher I purchased at Harbor Freight for about $50. The pads held up great all the way up to 4000 rpm. I did most of the work at 2500 rpm. After using all the pads they all still look like new and the stone looks great. If you want the full polished granite counter top look you will need some polishing powder and a pad. I did not have any problems with the pads coming apart as other reviewers have said they had. I was able to polish right up to the edge of chisled rough edge that I did on the front face of the stone without any problems. The kit comes with the backer the screws right on to a standard polisher. The backer has a stiff velcro that the pads attach too. When you are done with one grit you just pull the pad off and attach the next one, very fast and easy. None of the pads ever slipped or moved from the velcro attachment even at 4000rpm.This was my first time working with and polishing stone slab. These pads made the job easy. Don't get me wrong, working with large stone slabs is hard work and very messy but these pads are easy to use, highly recommended.I plan to use them again when I do more work in my back yard.

Very glad I didn't listen to the negative comments if you ...
Very glad I didn't listen to the negative comments if you read the instructions and do as it says these pads will last you a very long time. Get yourself a polisher that runs up to 3500 RPMs and you're golden pick yourself up one from Harbor Freight that goes from 0 to 3500 and cost you a whole $35. The only way I can see these pads going flying is if you're using a high-powered grinder which it says not to my only suggestion is if you plan to seal your counters only go to about 150 Grit depending on the sealer or the surface will be too slick for it to adhere to it'll just come up after it's dry. If you want super smooth and go all the way up to 3000 I would get a penetrating spray sealer. And if your counters are in the house prepare for a mess

These just work!
I used these with a Makita 4.5" variable speed angle grinder with great success on a piece of Stilestone quartz that I cut for a desktop. The manual cutting process with 6" diamond blade on an angle grinder left noticeable saw marks on all 4 sides of the slab. I started with the most coarse grit of this set and was easily able to not only knock back the sharp edges all around, but I was also able to remove the sawing marks. I used a steady and slow flow of water from a garden hose while polishing, and used scrap boards to help direct the water to the particular area where I was working. It took maybe 2 hours to polish all 4 sides and corners with the full stack of polishing disks. The result was a finish that was 99% as good as the factory finish of the quartz slab, and perfectly good for my project. I would easily buy these again and would also seek out an 8000 grit to see if it got me an even better shine.

Quality control is terrible or the other reviews are fake...
I'm working on 120 linear feet of tumbled rock wall topped by granite caps. I bought these to soften some edges on the caps and had high hopes before they arrived. However, I was severely disappointed when I opened the box.First, on the plus side, the pieces were all there and the packaging was fine. That said, the pads didn't look right as they seemed to be missing the diamond specs. My first test was to close my eyes and rub my fingers across the pads. I literally could not tell the difference between the 50 grit pad and the 6000 grit pad. Anyone who has used both will get right away that doesn't bode well for effectiveness. I've never experienced that before, and it was not a great confidence builder. I decided I might as well try the pads to see if maybe they had invented a diamond pad where actual abrasion wasn't important to them working -- Always the optimist. I went ahead and used the 50 grit pad. However, after a few minutes I had precious little dust, let alone any material removal.Net, maybe their 50 grit is useful as a 3000 grit replacement. However, if you are actually looking to use any of the 50 grit to perhaps 1500 grit pads, I would avoid this. IMHO.

Makes easy work even for a beginner.
Make sure you use a low rpm angle grinder or polisher. With too high speeds these will overheat and burn the edge of the granite. Used properly the do an amazing job, and they do quickly. I am a first time granite polisher and polished the edges of probably 40 feet of granite tile. It took a little time because i had so much to do, but was actually pretty quick. It turned out beautiful and was relatively easy to do. My edge polish looks identical to the surface polish that came on the tiles. Beautiful.

Great pads, make sure you have the right attachment.
These pads were great! I had to polish several edges of 3cm granite for some bathroom vanity tops and they worked great. I assumed this kit was ready to mount on a drill but I soon realized it the foam pad doesn't have a mandrel. You need either a grinder/polisher or be sure to purchase the drill adapted when you buy the kit. I bought an angle grinder and a router speed controller (to slow the grinder down) for this project. Here are some tips I learned:1. Make sure the pads are centered! Off-center pads cause uncomfortable tool vibration.2. Take you time & be thorough. I realized after I installed the piece that I had missed a thin strip. Tough to see outside, but you can see the dull reflection under lighting.3. Tape off work section. This helped me stay within the limits of the work area and ensure I was polishing the entire work area so I didn't miss anything.4. Take a milk jug and poke a pin hole about 1 inch from the bottom. Fill with water. Direct the small stream of water onto the work area. Move jug as needed to keep area wet.Overall I was very happy and the pads still look brand new. Based on how often I will use them, they will probably last my lifetime. Most of my friends couldn't tell the factory edging from my work so I was happy about that!
