I originally ordered this book because I was keen to diversify my 4yo’s book shelf. I had not heard of the Lulu books before so I was delighted to discover this is an absolutely wonderful picture book. My daughter instantly fell in love with Lulu and asked me to buy the other books in the series - she now regularly asks me to read her this one, as well as Lulu Loves the Library, Lulu Loves Stories and Lulu Reads to Zeki. They are all wonderfully warm stories that celebrate family, community and the joy of reading. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Book quality is sturdy and perfect to read to young kids. Illustrations are beautiful.

Lulu takes readers on the journey before, during and after her first day away from Mum and Dad at preschool.Children can watch her getting her equipment and clothes ready, arriving and being welcomed, making friends and choosing what she does, and having her Mum come to collect her. It's all so tiring, Lulu falls asleep at home!Lulu is not upset at all, she's brave and excited, encouraging readers to follow in her footsteps. She meets a selection of friendly (multicultural) children at preschool and a helpful teacher. Parents stay for a short while, and we see a huge range of activities that she can enjoy.Parents reading this with children will be able to talk about every aspect of the experience in a positive way, there are prompts on every page for discussion and reassurance, questions and answers.The illustrations are adorable; little button noses, small black eyes and round faces, very cute. The text is quite minimal and easy to follow, not too descriptive.The perfect 'first experience' book for a 2-4 year old to help them understand what their first day in a school setting will be like.
