Essential for Fiddlers
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Amazingly fun and accessible! Very well written and in the same keys as the original versions (helped me play along to the radio). Most are written in the keys of G or D with a few in A and C. Some beautiful ones in minor keys as well. It has instructions when you should swing notes and the chords above the melody. My friends and I had a lot of fun sightreading through these too (not too difficult). They play guitar so it was super fun. This is definitely an essential book that I'm going to keep in my library.

and in easy keys. The songs themselves are really lovely
Lovely pieces from two very accomplished songwriters. Most of the tunes are simple enough for relatively beginning violinists, and in easy keys. The songs themselves are really lovely, and my experience performing them is that people find them very evocative and will often ask about them and ask to hear them again. There is an interesting variety in musical styles. Two suggestions for future editions would be to include harmony parts and to print in a slightly larger format to make sharing the music easier for older players and for playing when lighting conditions are not ideal. However, neither of these should prevent anyone from buying this wonderful book!

Love this music!
I am a great fan of Jay Ungar and Molly Mason's songs. I met them at a 3 day weekend workshop and they are friendly, down to earth people and are super talented musicians! I love the waltzes and this book was exactly what I was looking for. I think you'll love it too.

These waltzes are a delight to play
These waltzes are a delight to play! I'm more of a Intermediate/Beginner and most of them are simple enough to play, but challenging as well. Very happy I purchased this!

Excellent Tunes in a Traditional Format
Mostly original tunes, but very much in the traditional mode. Jay Ungar wrote "Ashokan Farewell" that accompanied Ken Burns' series on the Civil War. I thought it was an undiscovered traditional tune. Sure sounds like one. Jay and Molly are very talented writers an performers and that talent shines throughout this book.

Watch the key!
I like the collection. Did not realize, however, the collection is nearly all in G, whereas I primarily play in D b/c of my vocal range.

Great music
I really like Jay and Mollies music, and this is great. It's fairly easy, about level 2.5 I'd call it contemporary bluegrass.

Good tune book for an early violinist
These scores are the simplified versions of the tunes played by Jay Ungar. They are primarily for beginner violinists. All the grace notes, turns and trills have been omitted. Nevertheless it is very straight forward to add these in for oneself . I am generally very pleased with the book

Compact book, delightful tunes, easy to play
Was surprised by the format...very compact but in fact that’s quite handy! A lot of lovely tunes, easy to play as written. Up to you to add ornamentation. Highly recommend.
