After setting a nice table, I hate the look of brightly colored plastic tubs of soft margarine or butter on the table. The majority of butter dishes are designed for one or two sticks on a dish with a dome shaped cover. I wanted just the opposite, a base that I could transfer soft margarine into with a flat lid. Found some but they were glass or ceramic, heavy and breakable and most with a wooden cover that would get greasy and messy from the contents and/or did not have a secure seal.FINALLY found the perfect piece!This can be used either way, sticks on bottom with dome cover, or fill the dome and use the base as the cover.It’s unbreakable, eco-friendly bamboo, super attractive, molded so both pieces fit securely together, holds a full 16 oz container of soft margarine, great selection of colors, easy to clean and looks great on my table! Love this butter dish. The only drawback is it does not have a seal and top fits on loosely. I like the matte finish but you can see fingerprints and smudges ect...

I love this butter dish. It is the right size for the Kerry gold butter. I now have two, so one is clean and ready for a new brick of butter. This butter dish is perfect. I however, use mine upside down for the butter to fit into the cover because it is neater and less messy. I love my butter dish. This is perfect idem for my kitchen.

Pros - color is very nice. large enough to fit any size butter stick.Cons - does not have handles, so if you are in a hurry and grab it, it is very easy to drop.Meh - as long as you are careful when grabbing it, it works fine, but since there are no handles, if you don't grab it right, it will slip through your hand and go flying since it is very light.
