It's still a beautiful day
Many people will be familiar with "White Bird", the opening track on the eponymous album and it remains the stand-out number. (In fact I'm pretty sure it formed the basis for a plot line in an episode of Knightrider.) This is not to denegrate the rest of the CD - just that the others aren't in the same league. Both albums have worn pretty well with the passage of time, which is something of a tribute to the musicianship of La Flamme and his band(s). Anyone with an interest in West Coast music of the late 60's / early 70's will enjoy this collection.

Sounds good to me
I thought these albums sounded fine on this release and was pleasantly surprised. The first album is the better one, but both have something to offer. It would have been nice to have the original covers, but these are easily downloaded and inserted into the front of the jewel case. The music is typical West Coast 60s music

It's A Beautiful Day review.
First heard this band in the late 60s had the pleasure of seeing them live at The Bath Blues Festival back in 69 together with Led Zepp. Loved them then love them now both bands of course. It was great to get these albums both on CD at last i fully urge you to get this CD White Bird, oh i am drifting away with the flow of music. I also recommend a folk band from Cambridge only formed over 2 years ago called The Willows they have an album out available on Amazon called " Beneath Our Humble Soil" a lovely album as well enjoy folks.

Great Music, marred by poor sound
While it's great to see this reissue on a label that -I hope- respects the artists, this release is a big disappointment. Business practices and legal wrangles aside, the San Fransisco Sound branded discs of both these albums actually sound much better. This reissue has been "remastered" in the heavy-handed, highly compressed, distortion producing manner that's become all too common in recent years, (google Loudness War) and the music suffers. Dynamic range is squeezed out, tonal balance is upset, and distortion is present in disturbing quantities. Worse yet, "White Bird" is the one track that suffers most from this mistreatment. So it seems we're forced to choose between a label that respects the artists, or one that respects the Music.I know the major labels have engineers that can master a CD properly, I wish they'd encourage/allow them to do so. If I wanted low-bitrate MP3 quality sound, I'd just download the MP3's and save both time and money. Like many others, I buy CD's with the expectation they'll sound better than that. Unfortunately, These two CD's don't. I'll be keeping my San Francisco Sound copies, thank you.

Excellent quality and value!
Excellent quality CD. The music and sound quality are superb. These two albums for this price are a good value. The album covers are not included but can be found online.

NOT ORIGINAL ARTWORK
music's great as you would expect from that San Fran era but major disappointment is that the CD come in a plain black sleeve with no details apart from the track listing, may as well have been a disc burnt off the internet. Apparently copyright on the artwork is held elsewhere, for me it loses the flavour of the era and I may as well have downloaded, no clue in product details that artwork mis not the original - waste of time and money.

I own both of these albums on vinyl and wanted them as CDs to play in my truck and via my iPod. Songs on them represent key parts of my life--wonderful memories.
