Best mead book yet.
The writer is entertaining and informative. If I only bought one book on making mead…this is it.

Highly informative on brewing and so much more!
This book was excellent! Jereme's wit and wisdom shines through on this educational book, taking readers through the lore of mead, the importance of bees, and the techniques used in meadmaking that is graspable for any beginner. Although there are a few recipes, the book focuses more on why those ingredients work, and how to use them to make your own delicious beverage of the gods! I read the whole thing in just a few days and already have a batch of mead and ginger bug brewing!

Good history on Mead, and great recipes
This is a good book. It has great recipes and a lot of info historically for those interested. I was only slightly interested in the history. Author attempts to make mead brewing simple and cheap which is the way to go in this age or any before for that matter. Gives tons of tips speaking from experience which is great! liked the book and plan on my first gallon of mead in a couple months from now. I have no brewing experience at all, and only have some vegetable fermentation exp at this point. This is a book for beginners also.

Perfect every time…
I bought this book as a gift for my son-in-law and he loves it. He has made many of the recipes and has read it covered to cover to make many homemade recipes. He said it was one of the best gifts he has received and it was full of excellent information, he also said his mead turns out perfectly every time!

Easy to follow and apply
I am also new to brewing mead. I can highly recommend the book make mead like a viking by Jeremy Zimmerman. Not only is it well written, with some interesting bits on the vikings, it includes details on how to make a staggering vatiety of meads. It is easy to follow and well worth the price tag. I came across an old blog Jeremy did and I sent him an email asking for some advice. He was super helpful and insightful. I subsequently bought the book and am very glad I did. You need to be a chemist to get involved in brewing. I was put off brewing beer because it seemed to be such complicated process. Mead can be brewed as simply or complicated as you like. This book is good not only for people new to brewing, but is also great for those interested in the vikings and gaining insight into their life that is often excluded. This book is also great for anyone looking to try brewing like our ancestors did

How did they do it in the old days?
I bought Zimmerman's book early on, but didn't really look at it until recently. I'm still a newby and made a couple of batches so far using other instructions I found on the internet last spring; these were more step-by-painstaking-step, strictly following prescribed regimen/procedures, and were about as much as I could handle without getting overwhelmed by the science of it all. I just wanted to try and see if I could make some mead without it being horrible.I eventually got scared off by all of the chemicals other mead makers added to their brew and wanted to find a different approach; it never made sense that the ancients had access to these chemicals - how did they make mead without them? I only very recently started carefully looking at the viking book again (sorry! lol), and was struck by the laid-back attitude this author has, making the process less stressful and more enjoyable. I also appreciated his section called "Thoughts on Enjoying Alcohol in Moderation." He has a lot of interesting comments that made me think, including "...taking the time to slowly drink and truly enjoy a beverage that has been fashioned with care -- particularly in the company of others whoare also willing to take the time to savor the fruits of the bottle." That kind of says it all to me. :) Today I'm going to attempt to make a small batch of melomel and another of metheglin.Cheers!

A new (old) take on making Mead
as an amateur brewer and mead enthusiast, I wanted to try my hand at brewing my own. Watched several videos and picked up books locally but all seemed to have the same information, just repackaged. Much of the information provided is not only new to me, but takes the scale of the endeavor from a lot of travel and purchases to hey, I can get a lot of this stuff locally. It also showcases that while many modern brewing tools are very helpful, not all are needed for successful small batch home brews.
