Gaiam Sol Studio Select Dry-Grip Yoga Mat

I've had to return the item as it simply do what it promised to do. I haven't seen many bad reviews, so I had high hopes, as I am fed up using towels. The mat I received was not grippy, allowed pools of sweat to accumulate on the surface and was all in all, very dangerous! I'm sad to say this, as I was happy to pay for a quality mat, but the one I got...was far from a quality mat. sorry to say this, as I had been looking forward to using this mat.

Al principio estaba muy contenta porque de verdad tenía muy buen agarre, además de que el diseño me encantaba. Sin embargo, a los pocos meses comenzó a mostrar un desgaste que no correspondía al uso que le daba, y que por supuesto no corresponde a la "garantía de por vida" que ofrece GAIAM. Ahora, a 2 años de haberlo comprado y de usarlo unas 2 o 3 veces a la semana (a veces menos), cada que lo uso termino con la piel y la ropa negras, porque la superficie del tapete despide muchos residuos, al grado de que mejor pongo una toalla para no terminar toda embarrada. Respecto al diseño, el estampado ya casi se perdió completamente, y como la capa superior está desgastada, también acumula humedad, lo que hace necesario dejarlo extendido un rato para que se seque... Por supuesto, aunque sigue teniendo cierto agarre, tampoco conserva las propiedades antideslizantes del principio. Es una pena, porque de verdad se me hacía muy bonito.

Compré este mat porque quería avanzar un poco más en mi practica y en mi viejo mat sentía que me resbalaba mucho las manos sobre todo en perro mirando hacia abajo pero con este mat no me resbaló nada!! La calidad se ve excelente es un poquito pegajoso al tacto lo cual funciona perfecto si eres de los que sufren de manos sudorosas, un poquito caro pero se ve que por la calidad que tiene vale la pena!! Lo he tenido un poco más de un mes y lo uso 30 a 45 min al día y esta perfecto, espero que me dure más pero por ahora lo recomiendo 100% además el diseño está muy bonito y el color

Si eres como yo y sudas bastante durante la práctica de yoga, esta es una opción fantástica. He probado otras y no hay comparación. En esta es casi imposible resbalar, mantienes las poses incluso en clase de Ashtanga intensa, y en verano. Muy satisfecho. Eso sí, mido 1,80 y es justa. Hubiera preferido con unos 15 cm más de largo.

I waited for a couple months to write a review because if you're a regular user yoga mats are a really personal and important purchase and I wanted to review based on how it holds up. It's a really attractive mat and I am super fond of the 5mm thickness as someone who finds some of the poses really hard on my knees. It does exactly what I wanted for hot yoga - zero slipping, sliding or stretching beneath you. One HUGE complaint though: fairly large portions of my mat look perma-wet - I guess I must have done something but I'm not sure what - looks like it might have happened while pressed up against the mesh on my carrier bag? It's a bummer for a mat I'm otherwise really happy with in terms of performance.Edit: After one year the weird patches on my mat that looked always wet (but weren't) started flaking and became slippery, making down dog dangerous. I contacted Gaiam and once I sent them a picture of the damage they honoured the lifetime guarantee and sent me a new mat. I am very happy and will get a better bag to keep this one out of the rain!Edit: Three years after my original purchase the replacement mat I was sent began to bubble in the middle between layers and where my hands and feet land became discoloured and now flake off. I am not going to bother seeking another replacement, just going to try a different mat. This one is thick and grippy to begin with but doesn't stand up over time.

This is SUCH a good looking mat. I have dogs who like to get all up in my zone so I really appreciate how easy it is to wipe down. Grips awesomely, even "grippy" mats don't compare, yet somehow it allows easy movement for Yin stretches that require you to kind of slide and adjust into place while still holding you if you don't want to move. My only complaint is like other reviews it is separating from base layer :( not in chunks or anything but lifting from the corners. Doesn't affect use and because all of the other benefits they far out way the lifting corners so I would still recommend it.

El tapete venía con algunos daños menores, lo que no se espera de un tapete nuevo y caro.Pero no lo regresé porque sino fuera porque se raya y se le está borrando el dibujo, es un tapete increíble si te Sudan las manos, no se resbala en absoluto, es ligero y tiene un acolchado perfecto que es a la vez firme y suave.

I really liked this mat when I first got it (May, 2018). However, after the first few months, the top coat started to wear off. For several months now, I have a large patch on my mat with no top coat, which provides zero grip and likely no longer "seals out germs, odor and bacteria". Disappointing. I basically have to spend money to get a brand new mat.

Este tapete es el mejor que he encontrado en cuanto a agarre, si sueles resbalarte con este seguro no te pasará, pero no duran mucho, uno o dos años maximo y empiezan a desbaratarse. Esta vez lo estoy doblando al revés, con el dibujo hacia adentro a ver si dura un poco más

I saw previous reviews that described a "bubble" forming between the layers, so I wasn't surprised when it happened after one yoga session. I requested an exchange, because my spouse has the same mat in another colour and it has not happened with that one yet. I was disappointed when the replacement arrived with defects, so I requested a refund. It is super sticky and I would have liked it otherwise. Too bad!

I was happy when I received the mat. It’s the perfect thickness, so I don’t need extra padding for my knees, and it doesn’t absorb moisture, which is perfect for hot yoga, and the main reason I got it.The design on it looks great. Unfortunately, after only a few weeks of use, it’s starting to rub off. Usually it transfers to my feet when I rub om it as I switch posses. So far that’s my only negative.

¡Este mat me ha gustado mucho! Llevo con él poco más de 3 meses y cumple lo que promete. No resbalas aunque las manos estén mojadas (de hecho tiene mejor agarre así), el espesor es el adecuado para que las posturas sean cómodas de realizar y además es fácil de limpiar. Como contras es que el dibujo se ha ido desvaneciendo un poco aunque eso no me preocupa. En definitiva mi práctica de yoga ahora es mejor :)

The best yoga mat ive ever had. As a 8 year practitioner I'm glad i finally discovered this gem. If you are plus size, larger sized, do hot yoga, bikram yoga, have dry skin and are constantly slipping, have knee issues and have to roll up your mat for certain poses, etc. This is the mat for you.

Je suis une adepte de yoga et j'ai eu bcp de difficulté un tapis vraiment anti-dérapant. Enfin, je l'ai trouvé. Grâce à ce tapis, je peux aller plus loin dans mes positions, car je ne glisse plus constamment. Je ne sais pas comment il réagit lors de séances de hot yoga car ce n'est pas ce type que je pratique, mais pour ma pratique avancée en vinyasa c'est parfait!!! Oui l'odeur est forte au tout début mais après 1 semaine le tout est disparu!

Nachdem ich einige Matten bestellt und wieder zurückgeschickt hatte, habe ich nun endlich diese Giam gefunden. Manduka Travel Mat war super rutschig, Lotuscrafts Travel Mat auch, die Jade 3mm war im "trockenem" Zustand auch super, jedoch bin ich, sobald es etwas wärmer und "schwitziger" wurde, ebenfalls mit den Händen gerutscht.Die Giam bietet sowohl bei trockenen, als auch bei feuchten Händen und Füßen besten Grip. Meine Befürchtung war, dass die Matte bei leichter Nässe rutschfest ist, bei trockener Haut jedoch rutscht. Das hat sich zum Glück nicht bestätigt.Somit ist sie für mich, und für alle, die beim Yoga schnell ins Schwitzen kommen, perfekt!!UND sie hat eine Lifetime Guarantee.Bin sehr glücklich, denn die Yogapraxis leidet enorm, wenn man rutscht.

i liked the mat, how it feels (the grip) and the design is nice too, it doesn't smell as rubber as other mats i have had but i will ask for a replacement because it arrived scratched and damaged, i wouldn't have any problem if the scratches were not so visible, i was expecting something new that looked ''new''.
