Frigidaire 316489400 Ignitor

This part fixed my oven, and cost significantly less than buying direct from Sears. My symptoms were 1) oven would take a very long time to light, 2) sometimes it would never light, and 3) occasionally when it did light it would do so with a small boom from inside the oven. I wasn't sure if it was the ignitor or the safety valve. I decided to try the ignitor first since the safety valve costs twice as much. Took me about 10 minutes to install, after which the oven lights in just a few seconds.Another plus, this is a genuine Electrolux part. Electrolux being the manufacturer who builds ovens for most of the manufacturers you buy at your local appliance store.For me this part was easy to install, but I'm a "handy" person. If you don't consider yourself handy, go slowly and consult your oven manual and you should be able to get it installed.For me, I'm very pleased with this part. I just wish I ordered it sooner, since the oven has been acting up for months now.

This ignitor was used to replace an old one in a 16 year old Tappan gas range oven. It took less than 30 minutes to change. The metal bracket can be swapped out for the original. Do your research to see how it's replaced (youtube). Before assembling trays in the oven, turn on the oven to allow the ignitor to glow long enough to open the port for propane.

I was unable to find this product locally in stores near me. Luckily I was able to find it here on Amazon and change it out myself. It saved me lots of money on repairs and prevented me from having to buy a new oven.

Purchased this item sold by Part Supply House. It stopped working after a year and a half. Don't waste your money buying this item shipped from this seller.

The first oven igniter I received was obviously used, with burn marks on it, but the worst part was that the element was broken into several pieces. They shipped another one quickly, this time it was new and unused, as well as unbroken. It worked perfectly upon installation. I am well pleased, overall, and would buy from this seller again.

My old ignitor would glow hot when try to start the oven, but the burner would not light. Once I replaced with the new ignitor, the burner gas flowed and would light up. On my model the connector didn't completely snap into place but did engage well enough to work. It's been a couple months since replacement and so far so good. Now that I know how to replace, it is about a 20-30 minute job.

Perfect fit in 11 year old Frigidaire oven.The old ignitor was having difficulty lighting the burner - resulting in natural gas smells, delayed lighting, and occasionally a "whoomp" sound as the gas finally caught.Installed quickly and easily. There are plenty of youtube videos out there showing the process. The only hiccup that I ran into - one of the sheet metal screws spun out a couple of turns before it was no longer able to get a bite in the mount. I used a hacksaw to cut off the head and get the ignitor out, mounting the new one with the one remaining screw and the remaining threaded portion of the stripped screw.The original ignitor had a protective steel surround around the element, while this replacement unit did not. The entire thing is protected under two pieces of sheet metal, so in the end it doesn't really matter.

This ignitor appeared to have been burnt out, but we installed it anyway, just to make sure. It does not work, and this item is not eligible for a refund or replacement. Amazon informed us that Frigidaire would contact us within 2 days, but we're still waiting weeks later.

Works well but it's very expensive. Next time I'll pick a cheaper one as they all look the same
