Alchemy 1977 England Tarot Deck

I wasn't really sure how to rate this deck because it's definitely not for me, but that doesn't make it a bad deck.The problem was, I thought it would be more magically artistic, but it was instead very punk rock/metal/death inspired. I just can't get into a deck like that. The minor arcana are not illustrated, and most of the face cards and Major Arcana have skulls in them. If anyone knows the "Chemical Romance" poster with the dragon and the angel holding each other then those are what these cards are like (and that image is also one of the cards - The Lover). Most of the Major Arcana and face cards have skulls in them, as does the back of the cards. I love Gothic, Victorian, dark stuff, but this was too punk for me.It's my fault, honestly, I don't think I did enough research into the cards to realize that these aren't Gothic Victorian, but Punk Rock. You have to be one with the cards, part of the cards, feel inspired by the cards...but when I looked at these cards all I saw were a bunch of clattering skulls. Which is cool if you're in to that, but I'm not......at least not for my tarot cards.

I loved these cards sadly they were stolen from me. Once I have the money I will repurchase. The quality is amazing and the the detail on the illustrations are outstanding.

Beautiful cards. A really nice size and easy to shuffle. Slightly smaller than a traditional deck. Only thing is the writing is hard to read on the cards and had Spanish and English on them and the book is the same size as the card with incredibly tiny print. If it was a full size book I would give 5 stars!

The deck arrived earlier than expected. Personally, I love the artwork and the size of the cards. Yes, they are small and dark. However, you only have to read other reviews before purchasing to find that out. The deck is powerful, and I can't wait to use it.

In a personal view I really like these cards, despite the flaws, because of their style and over all artwork. Plus it just clicks with me despite everything. However, below I'll list some pros and cons.PROS:- Artwork is nice overall (mostly in major arcana) and if you're looking to get a gothic/darker styled deck I'd recommend it.- Size is great, a bit bigger than a playing card and they fit nicely in the hand.- I could recommend the deck even if just for display purposes if you're not one to use darker toned decks in readings.CONS:- Most of the minor arcana cards are structured like a normal suit card from a playing card deck (where it's a copy paste image that increases for which ever number it is ) past the third card in the set, instead of symbolic art you'd find in other decks.- Despite some nice art overall there is some editing/reuse I've found in places (see attached image of same piece of art which is altered for another card in a different suit)OTHER:- Could just be used as an interesting playing card deck due to minor arcana's structure if desired.

When I look for new tarot decks one of the first things I look at is the art work, and the images shown here intrigued me enough to buy the deck (there were not as many pictures up then as there are now). But after the deck arrived and I looked the cards over I immediately found several issues that ruined the cards for me.First, and least problematic, they are very small, the size of an ordinary deck of playing cards, and the border takes up much of the area on the face of the cards.Second, not only do the cards not really follow the Rider-Waite system, many of the images do not relate to what the card is supposed to symbolize. Example: a weird little imp sitting on an ink pot for "The Hermit".Third: the artwork just seems an excuse to put gothic images on paper, and really not even good gothic images. They look like sample art from a tattoo book. None of the female characters appear to be strong, powerful, wise, or insightful; instead they are half-naked bimbos with vacuous expressions. The nudity is not the problem, I have no problem with the nudity,it is, rather, the use of it here. Its kind of like reimagining the Tarot to include pole dancers portraying all of the female images.Fourth: The minor arcana are just pip cards. Boring, and you better know your cards cold, or you'll be looking them up in the LWB that comes with it (and from going through that, buying an actual book would be a necessity also). The kings are dragons (which I found odd - this isn't a dragon deck), there are both knight and knave (no page) where the grim reaper appears a LOT, and the queens are mostly disappointing, although the queen of swords is, by far, the best female image in the deck.Although this deck may work for some, it was a disappointment for me. But, at least it is being put to some use. My boyfriend is now going through it looking for tattoo ideas.

This deck is lovely, in a gothic, passionate way. The art is exquisite. The cards are small enough to handle easily, but you will want a bright lamp to read them by, as the colors are dark, in keeping with the theme.As a long-time Oracle reader, I knew instntly this was a powerful deck. While the text for the card meanings is brief, one can obtain plenty of meanings from other sources easily available (internet, books,etc.). Enjoy, it's worth the money for the art,and if you are a Reader, it's worth it for the quality of the readings you will receive.

At first I was a little disappointed with this deck. I don't usually like pip cards, and it took me forever to get it inside my head that the black roses are the wands here, which kept me glued to the companion booklet for some time.. but as I became more and more familiar with the deck and recognised the cards faster, it became one of my favourite decks to read. First of all, I love the size and finish of the cards, which make it very easy for my small hands to shuffle. I am also a "grand tableau" type of reader who likes to pull a lot of cards one after the other and let a great-scheme kind of story unfold.. and this deck is awesome for that. I shuffle for a long time, flip 10, 15 or 20 cards, and the message usually couldn't be clearer.Of course if you are a fan of gothic imagery, it should be right up your alley also. Personally, I find the Lovers card to be very (strangely) sexy.. ;)

Arrivati nei tempi previsti ma abbandonati dal postino sul muretto avanti la porta e fortunosamente recuperati da una vicina, sono assolutamente bellissimi. Li ho comprati per il GdR e sono sicuro creeranno una grande atmosfera. Metto 3 stelle perchè dato il tipo di spedizione (credo come una lettera) ho rischiato che si perdessero e perchè la consistenza del materiale non è dei più robusti, tipo quella delle comuni carte da gioco.. spero che non si rovinino troppo presto

I bought this for a friend, since as soon as I saw it, I knew that he would love it. And he has, so much so he has.All his readings have been bang on. This deck has helped him get through some tough times, by making him pay attention to darker aspects in his own psyche that he said he would not have been able to do with a lighter deck.Warning. THIS IS A REALLY DARK DECK! It is a wonderful deck, but dark. Great readings if it clicks with you, it will help you get through the toughest and darkest times.
