Pots for All Seasons

Good for inspiration, not a comprehensive guide
This is a interesting book on many fronts, however I found it a bit disappointing in the selection of plant that it features. You could be forgiven for thinking that you can only grow in pots are bulbs, hellebores, and heucheras, as they feature repeatedly in this book (heucheras, in particular.) Surprisingly, not a single rose (and some can be grown in pots), clematis or jasmin, which I found weird. And only one nasturtium in the entire book! In this respect, this book is not comprehensive, it's not meant as a comprehensive guide of plants that can be grown in pots.I did enjoy the photography, the variety of containers used, some pot compositions, and the use of grasses.Something important that was missing is a size guide for pots. How do you know which size for what plant? Or which plants prefer a small, tightly fitting pot and which ones need to be potted up as they grow?I think this book will be most useful for the beginner, or for those who are simply looking for inspiration.

Inspirational
This is a joy - not the usual 2 or 3 new ideas - after a week I'm still poring over it! The author has a stunning innate sense of colour and design, lists the actual plants used, and also gives some practical guidance. The antithesis of a coffee table book but even more beautiful. When you've recovered from what must have been quite a marathon to create, please write another book Tom with your wonderful ideas. There aren't enough stars to give.

Beautiful, inspiring with real knowledge backing it up
I’m really enjoying this book and have recommended it to lots of gardening friends. As an experienced gardener not many books really excite me but this has a great combination of stylish photography, new fresh ideas and good advice. It’s not just pretty pictures, you can really tell the author knows his stuff. Highly recommend!

Full of inspiration and useful tips
A lovely, very well-illustrated book jam-packed with ideas and practical advice. None of your daft recycled suit case type containers and mostly very achievable planting ideas. At the heart of this book is an extensive gallery arranged by season that offers plenty of inspiration. Thoroughly recommended for those who love growing in pots and appreciate the artistic scope this offers. Also great for those who rent and wish to take the best of their garden with them when they move on!

Fantastic
Really impressed with this book - full of useful information and ideas that could easily be scaled up or down to your own preference. Many of these types of book are style over substance, which is fine sometimes for visual inspiration, but it feels like the author genuinely loves and knows plants, so as well as exciting me visually I feel like I can trust some of the ideas to actually perform!

FANTASTIC BOOK EASILY 5 STARS +++
This is a really brilliant inspirational book and it has given me so many ideas especially in the use of different containers. As a result of reading this book I am now spending must more time building a picture in the garden and looking at different ways in grouping my containers.I have numerous gardening books but this is at the top of my list. I do hope that Tom Harris will write another book as he so talented and has a very special gift in helping me, as a very amateur gardener, to achieve and create special spaces in my garden.I love the book so much that I have even sent a copy to my friend in Wyoming USA - she too was delighted with it.
