Well worth it!
This review is for the AVH X4800BSThis is a totally awesome head unit. I put this in my 2005 silverado 2500HD. I bought the dash kit (Metra Electronics 95-2001) and the (RP5-GM11) to keep the steering wheel controls, onstar and chime. I did have to trim down the plastic where the stock radio used to sit. Some people say you have to cut the metal bracket out to put in the avh x4800bs. In my truck, you do not have to cut the metal bracket, just trim the plastic on the sides and the middle next to the metal bracket. If you cut the metal bracket, your dash WILL start to sag over time because it holds up the middle if the dash. I would have attached pictures of the plastic but for some reason I lost them after I took them. If I find them I will attach them to this review. If you have an iPhone, there are a lot of things you can do with this head unit. I'm an Android user so I can tell you, it works well with my phone. Sorry I can't help with the iPhone users. The bluetooth works very well, I did install the microphone for the phone and it works great. People can hear me fine and their voices come across the speakers. I also installed a back up camera. Works flawlessly. My head unit came with the latest firmware so I did not have to update it. The sound is great and there are lots of options to choose from. You can even put your own 800x480 picture on the screen, change the theme, the buttons colors, brightness and lots of other options. When I wired the RP5-GM11 to the head unit harness, I just followed each wire color. They all match up besides the mute wire but the instructions with the RP5-GM11 tell you exactly what you do and what to do with the mute wire if you use it. I soldered all my wires and used heat shrink tubing to cover the solder. Very nice head unit and highly recommended!

$200 well spent
I replaced a small Pioneer MVH-380BT with this thing because I needed mouth RCA outputs for a future system I'm planning to do. If you're searching for a double DIN stereo, just stop and get this one. It sounds really good and has many cool features. For example, there's support for backup camera, a 13 band equalizer, access to Pandora and Spotify, and if (for some reason) you want to play a CD, just press the eject button and then the WHOLE SCREEN SLIDES DOWN so you can put the CD in. How cool is that?! It has 3 RCA outputs so if you want to do a system like mine (4 door speakers and sub(s)) you can give front, rear, and sub output with this radio. Also, Pioneer has a playlists on YouTube on this radio and many others telling you various stuff like illumination (the bar is RGB, it changes colors), device connection, wallpaper changing, etc. The videos are really well made and detailed so if you want something better demonstrated than in the manual, there's that. Seriously, if you're looking for a new stereo, always go with Pioneer, they are hands down the best around. And if you want a double DIN, go with this one. Sounds good, great functionality, and has super sexy looks. What else do you want?

Works great
Pros:-Great sound quality-Great build quality-Good features-Bluetooth connection after getting in vehicle is automatic and relatively fastCons:-Screen isn't the most responsive, but it's a resistive touchscreen so it is what it is-Doesn't include the Auto EQ mic, which I feel any Pioneer over $250 should.-Doesn't have Auto EQ mic connection on front, so if this is a feature you want to use, plan ahead and buy the mic before install, and leave the unit "hanging" while you tune your Auto EQ before you button everything up. If this is something you want to do later, you'll have to tear your dash down as the mic input is on the rear of the unit. For some this may not be a big issue.-Front buttons could have some texture or raised areas to minimize the need to look away from driving to make sure youre touching the right button. Nitpick though.

More than i expected
More than i expected. Worth what you paid for. I installed it on my 02 is300 with stock amp and stock speakers, along with metra factory amp turn on module. I didnt expect that it will sound very nice. Very clean sound quality. The bluetooth audio streaming is like cd quality. You can select the rear speaker to be subwoofer instead of rear left/right speaker out. The bass is like coming from a real subwoofer but its just the stock oem speakers. When i open the waze app on my iphone it will automatically connect and its like you have a bulit in navigation on the unit. But you can select to disconnect right away on you phone. when you diwnload pioneer apps from the apps store. You will see it on the screen once your phone connects to the unit. And it work really nice. Very easy to operate. I didnt even read the manual. You wont regret buying this product.
