I got this for the brass tubing which holds up forever. The bronze is solid, but bronze, unlike brass, will oxidize over time. Definitely use plumbers putty for drains. That's why it's called "plumbers" putty. Make sure it's fresh putty. Using stuff provided is always a bad idea, you don't know how long it has been sitting around drying out. You want to apply it liberally, then screw down the drain until it squishes out. Then screw it down more and more until you just have a hair-line bead of putty. Whatever you do, make dang sure it doesn't leak before you close up the interior space. And if you're conscientious, make an access panel so the next person who owns the property, or yourself, can get to it if there's a problem. It's always a good idea to vent interior walls where there is plumbing too. Condensation can form on warm pipes if the air is cool, and then it can drip onto drywall and make black mold. Hope that helps.

I am very happy with this shower drain. We updated all the fixtures and vanity top in my bathroom, and this Brushed Nickel Drain Cover worked wonderfully. It was well made and worth the extra money to get one with pipes made of brass. Our plumber installed it quickly, and said it was a fine product! It should last "forever."

The drain works well and looks nice. I had to purchase a tub drain wrench to tighten it. Initially I used plier handles, but it leaked. After reapplying putty and tightening with the appropriate wrench it works great. The other issue is to ensure you have a straight line between the top pipe and the t-pipe. Any offset will make it more challenging to seat the plunger. Once the kinks were worked out, it works and looks great.

My experience has been worse than terrible where I am still working to return the brass tub drain that was sent to me after having to contact a Rep. over the phone to ensure that I ordered the bronze drain vs. the brass drain because the website did not give me that option. Now they want to charge me a $20 re-stocking fee, which I refuse to pay. I continue to ask the Rep. that I am corresponding with via e-mail to escalate this matter to the next level and she has yet to respond. I have searched the Internet looking for a number to call and come up with nothing. I absolutely regret purchasing this product via this avenue because I cannot get it resolved to my satisfaction, which I believe is more than reasonable considering the Rep. placed the order over the phone. I am still shocked that the Rep. I have been corresponding with via e-mail is totally impossible to deal with where she has no interest in providing a positive customer experience.

So far so good. This item fells like a quality product. Nice and solid. The installation was very easy. Installed it on a Kohler Villager bath tub. Make sure you put a lot of putty on the drain when you install it. This unit was a bit pricy. Hopefully it will last a long time.
