From Potter's Field: Kay Scarpetta Mysteries, Book 6

Sixth book of The Scarpetta Series
Sixth, and one of my all time favorite books in The Scarpetta Series. This books starts with a psychopath at large, Temple Brooks Gault murdering a woman in the snow in New York City over the holidays and causing all kinds of other trouble. The investigation proves a lot, including that he has stolen one of Scarpetta's credit cards and is telling people that he is her son. He has a submissive partner, Carrie Gretham that is caught on a hidden video helping him murder someone that he later personally delivers to Scarpetta at the morgue. Benton Wesley has Lucy use the computer program she designed, CAIN to follow his movements and then trap him in New York where Scarpetta, Wesley and Marino go to hopefully catch Gault before he can kill anyone else.

Gripping. I could not stop reading. It was non stop action and my emotions and distrust bounced like a ping pong ball. everyone was suspect.
I love this author. As with previous books I just couldn't put it down. If you live crime this a must read.

Classic author, classic tale.
If you haven't read Cornwell before, this is one of her best. Edge of the seat the whole time. BUT for sure go back and read the books before this one. Kay Scarpetta, the main character, is in all of them.

Start with the first and read them in order!
To describe any of Patricia Cornell's Scarpetta series you are not looking to categorise it under three broad-stroke headings. It is a complex series of novels that builds from the very first to the last book. The main characters grow novel by novel until eventually becoming like friends who you feel you can relate to. Along with this, each novel as a main plot which is revealed to you chapter by chapter right through to its conclusion so that any novel picked from the series will not disappoint. I only picked one novel from the middle of the series and by the end of the novel I was hooked.I returned to book one and have read everyone in order since. So back to From Potter's Field, if you are reading this as a one off novel you would have to say it is full of surprises as you have characters development and the individual plot to relate to. If you are reading the book in sequence you only have the plot and additional character twists. Again full of surprises for the story and more in depth character revelations. Either way It is a great read. This can be said for the complete Scarpetta series. Do yourself a favour and read the series in order, you will not be disappointed.

Good again
Potter's field was another good read. Not happy with the ending...we are to guess that Temple is dead...I don't think so...also author if you want to describe what Bently is wearing in a certain scene then remember because in one description you said he has on a sweater and dark slacks, but then you say he moved his tie to bend over, just a little mistake, but I had to check back to see if I missed something. And if Temple is so clever then why does he need his sisters money, it's chump change, certainly not worth him getting himself caught...just saying he's got Kays credit card! Well I'm on to the next book in the series!

Kay Scarpetta
Dr. Scarpetta is getting ready to fly to Miami to spend Christmas with her mother who is in the hospital when Temple Gault kills a homeless woman in New York. How Scarpetta, Lucy, Marino and Benton Wesley unravel the tale of the homeless woman and go after Temple Gault makes for an intriguing and exciting read.

Outrageous Kindle price for this book!
I have no problem with this book's quality, but the Kindle price is outrageous. While traveling abroad, I rely on my Kindle books so I don't have to carry books with me. I got into these books and was reading them in order, usually $9.99 each for the Kindle edition. Then I came to this one - OUTRAGEOUS at about $15 for this one book! If I run into this price again, I'll simply not buy it. There is no good rationale for charging under $10 for some of these books, then $15 for some. When I see this price again, I'll just put it on my "get-it-free-at-the-library" list!!! The publisher's unwise and irrational decision to charge this much will decrease sales - at least from this customer!

Slow to start
It has been awhile since I last read this series so I found it a bit slow starting as I familiarised myself with the story again. However once I got going it was like a whirlwind very thrilling and the ending was full of suspense. I won't be leaving it that long to read the next one

Good holiday read.
I’m working my way through the Scarpetta series. I enjoyed this one but not as much as others hence 4 stars only. Very easy holiday read.Would have been nice if Amazon could have told me however that I’d already purchased it as I discovered upon receipt I’d already got it!

I have been reading Patricia Cornwell's Editions. I am now at edition 18. I have become quite addicted to her books and cant wait to finish each one, so as to start the next. I must say, apart from enjoying the stories, I find them very informative and educational. Very clever lady.
