Challenging, well written arrangements with full backing tracks
I've had this book for years, and it's always my go-to for some enjoyable practice. The tunes are challenging for an intermediate to early advanced player. The melodies aren't overly dumbed-down like a lot of books, and not afraid to spend some time in the high register. In other words, these are legit tenor trombone solos. Not too easy, not frustratingly difficult. Some of the arrangements will force you to work on alternate positions -- particularly "Nice Work If You Can Get It." It may be that they're just not written with the physicality of a trombone in mind, as is common with solo books that are written and sold for multiple instruments. My favorites are the ballads by far. Easy to play accurately, tough to play beautifully.I also like that the CD has two tracks for each song -- one with a trombonist who will make you feel inferior, and one without. Some CD accompaniments put the soloist on the left channel and forces you to pan the track. I much prefer the full stereo backing tracks, and that's what this CD has. The backing tracks themselves are good, too. Real instruments, or at least it sounds like it to me.Highly recommended for the intermediate player.

Finally a good play-along!
I've only played two charts so far but can tell this book has actually been well thought out and that clearly some professional input was taken from a trombonist. Ranges, tempos probably not really aimed at the beginner but rather a good challenge for the developing intermediate player or advancing student. Backing tracks sound really good. There's not many play-alongs for trombone which I would consider great however this one definitely comes within that area.

Gershwin special arrangement Torombone
Excellent book with some classic melodies by one of the greatest songwriters ever.I would say you need to be a fairly competent player Gr 4-5 ish as some of the rhythms are a little challenging, but nothing that a little practice will not sort out.
