Shattered lid - so dangerous
One star for the pot. I purchased this pot for canning. I filled it with hot water from the tap and set on counter while I made brine. It sat on counter with no heat under for about an hour. All of the sudden the entire lid shattered. I wasn't even near the pan. I'm glad I didn't have it on the heat and started canning it probably would have exploded. So dangerous. I would not recommend.

Lid burst into a thousand pieces!
Only used it a few times and the lid burst into a thousand pieces. I am staring up a small Jam business and I had to throw away over $150 in product because I didn't want to take a chance that glass got into the stock pots! Wish I could get a refund and compensation for all the lost time and money!!!

NOT Stainless Steel - does not work on induction stove
I ordered 2 of these. The first one was dented on the bottom and the lid was also bent. I returned it and got a replacement. I took it out to can today and peeled the label off (yes the one that states it is stainless steel), and washed it and filled it with water and set it on the induction stove. The stove would not recognize it. So I tried sticking a magnet to its side and bottom and nothing! The magnet didn't stick at all. Not even a little bit. I tried several different magnets. Nothing! This is not stainless steel. I am returning it and going to find some other brand to try.

Very nice water bath canner!
I bought this because I needed a water bath canner with a flat bottom so I could use it on my glass top stove. It works like a charm! I love that the lid is glass, & it has a vent hole. It is a huge pot! It is solid, but it's not so heavy that I was scared about using it on the glass top stove. The jar lifter basket works perfectly also. It holds 12 half pints. I used it for my very first canning of jam. This would also be perfect for that huge pot of chili, beans, or spaghetti for those big family gatherings.

This one came in perfect condition until I canned in it
The first one I ordered came with the lid all bent around the rim edge, so I returned it and ordered another one. This one came in perfect condition until I canned in it. After the first use I noticed rust spots where the rack meets the pan on the inside. I returned it and ordered a different brand. Not impressed with the quality at all.

I've been stuck using a cheap useless type of stock pot
I have been looking for canner for such a long time. I've been stuck using a cheap useless type of stock pot. I have a glass top range, and there are certain pans you should NOT use on glass top ranges, such as copper bottom, (iIF the pot should run dry, the copper is NOT a friend of the glass), cast iron (just can't wait to scrach the glass, or when it slips out of your hand and from one solid glass top, you now have a bunch of little pieces of glass, a nice mess to clean up, and $$$$ to replace, or a rippled bottom pan where it can't sit flat on the glass top There was a minor problem and corrected within days of my call. Wonderful plesant folks, and guess what, they speak ENGLISH, and guess what again, I didn't have to keep on pressing different numbers,,,and guess what again, I didn't even have to press 1 if I was speaking ENGLISH!

Works as expected
I bought this to use with my glass top stove. Living in an apartment means I don't have a choice in the type of cooktop, so while canning on a glass top stove is not ideal, it is possible. This canner is quite large. I have only used it once to can peaches in pint jars. It takes a lot of water to fill up and is quite heavy when full. Since I was using s glass top stove, it took an incredibly long time to come up to boiling point, but that is to be expected. The rack is probably my favorite part, but it is also a frustration point. The handles collapse inward when you lower the jars down. It would be nice to have some type of hool to retrieve them from the water. I had to get creative to get it lifted back out. Also, be sure to balance your jars carefully on the rack when you are starting to load it. If it gets off balance, it will tip to the side and drop the jar into the canner. I started by putting one in the center, then one in the center of each handle, and then filled in the rest. It seemed to work all right that way.

Nice pot. Awful rack!
I've used this pot and rack to can about a dozen batches of jelly. The pot itself is good. It heats well, and cleans up easily. However, I chose this particular pot thinking I'd save money because it came with a rack. To put it simply, this rack is junk. It does not sit securely on the edge of the pot when raised to load jars. The wires are uneven, which causes the bottom of the rack to be sloped instead of flat and my jars fall over every. time. I try to load it. If I press the hanging wires down firmly on the edge of one side the hanging wires on the opposite edge raise up- just barely remaining on the pot. This is really dangerous when you're working with several gallons of boiling water, lava hot jam and a bunch of glass jars. I have a lot more canning to do, but I'm going to have to buy a new rack first, as I enjoy having skin on my body.
