Accurate
Mark is described as "old school" and that's exactly true. This book portrays Mark exactly as he is in real life. I have had many encounters with Mark over the years. Mark has a unique way of entering a situation and immediately know how to handle the people involved. He does actually knows a lot about his community and the people in it. Mark has gone out of his way for me personally, when I just needed somebody helpful not critical. Mark can defuse a bad situation with a simple conversation. Mark isn't the type of cop that just wants to degrade your intelligence and embarrass you, He is a real man who takes people more seriously than his job. I couldn't wait to get this book, it's a quick easy read & accurately displays the type of small town, caring man he is. Thank you Mark for all of your good years of service!

This book is worth the purchase
I found it to be worth the 'read'. There were a number of humorous accounts that only an officer could encounter. Then there are some that are not. His account of responding to a DUI accident in 1979 made me recall how sad Christmas was in that small town that year! I lived in there and knew the tow truck driver and the relatives of those involved. Sadly, this was not a unique accident as I would loose a close, personal friend to another DUI in that general area, years later, as he was driving from the Border. This book is worth the purchase

Transplanted Maniac
To me this book rates 5 stars ! I live on the West coast, but I was born and raised in Brooks, Waldo County, Maine where Nickerson was mostly stationed. The book is well written and locations are described in enough details that I can relate to where he is, which makes the book really enjoyable for us transplanted"Maniacs"

Good fun
I had the pleasure of meeting Mark (and his buddy John Ford) at the Ancient Ones show in Augusta, which prompted me to buy the book.I had a pleasant afternoon drinking in the flavor of Maine. The book is well written, being both poignant and funny. I look forward to a sequel.

An excellent read. Especially if you are from Maine
An excellent read.Especially if you are from Maine. Enjoyed all the stories. My step brother works for the State Police and I'm sure he can relate to alot of these stories. It is fun to read stories from familiar places of my childhood. Thank you Trooper Nickerson for sharing.

Good Read
This is another good read written by a retired LEO. Mark was willing to let us into his feelings about some of the calls he answered. It is always interesting to see how an LEO thinks. Good book to curl up with on a cold winter night.

great read
I loved this book, all police officers will greatly appreciate this read and for the regular citizens they will get a lot of smiles and of course some tears. This book truly shows what law enforcement deals with on a everyday basis.
