Nice clean edition with better (but not perfect) page turns
This is a very nice, reasonably priced Urtext edition with more updated scholarship on these very important works. It is unique among editions in that it does make an effort at easy page turns with fold outs. All movements except for the A minor fugue, C major fugue, and the Chaconne can be played without turning pages due to thoughtful layout and fold outs. (The only edition that allows you to play through those movements without page turns is Werner Icking's layout with rather complicated loose leaf set up, which I can no longer find since its merger with IMSLP. Even that edition requires a page turn in the middle of the Corrente in the B Minor Partita.)There are some non-standard (and almost certainly non-authentic, in my opinion) articulations put in there parenthetically, which I found were somewhat distracting, which makes this slightly less "clean" than the Barenreiter edition, but the superior layout makes this the best edition of these works overall.Unless, that is, you want fingerings and bowings, of course! This edition is free of fingerings and bowings, which, in my opinion better as most of the standard editions (Galamian, Szerying, Rostal etc) all make assumptions about violin playing that is not necessarily the same ones that Bach had.
