Direct replacement for Honeywell M847D1004 actuator
Received the Valemo actuator today and installed it right away. Installation is pretty straight forward; the instructions suggested sandpapering the damper shaft which I did and it pretty much slide right in. Others have mentioned the dimension of the damper shaft and support rod centers on the Valemo unit were different than their old unit; but the Honeywell unit I replaced and the Valemo were both 1.3 inches on center.Others suggested using the old Honeywell long set screw; which I did. This makes it easier to tighten the set screw, and also gives you a good visual if the unit is working.I have two zone dampers in my system which are normally open when not energized. When heat (or cooling for that matter) is called for in only one zone the non-heat zone damper is energized and closed. In my case I found it helpful to run the furnace for the zone I was working on without the actuator installed, and marking the end of the damper shaft with a horizontal line after determining when the damper was fully open. This can be determined by listening to the airflow as you rotate the shaft; fully open should be the most quiet airflow. After that I shut the furnace off, re-positioned the horizontal line and installed new actuator. So far I am happy with the Valemo unit.

Great replacement for Honeywell, easy to install!
Just like the other reviews, I got this to replace my old Honeywells that were failing and sure enough. They were very very easy to install and work great! I also kept the old set screw from the Honeywell as others suggested and I highly recommend it as well. It fits perfectly and works so much better than the provided one.

It worked as advertised and is still working!
I'm not climbing into the attic to get you a photo, however the sturdily made item was easy to install and works very well. No problem with it.

Well Made, Easy install.
I don’t usually write reviews but this is a well made product. I have 4 zones in my home and have replaced 3 of the POC Honeywell actuators with these. Have not had a problem with this product. I just replaced my 3rd zone this past week. I bought an extra because I know the 4th will go at some point. Takes 2 minutes to change out and even comes with the set screw. Some others don’t come with it so you have to reuse the old rusty one.

Work as expected, Direct replacement to my existing Honeywell ARD ZD M847D damper motor

Works as advertised.
I needed a replacement for my Honeywell M847D actuator motor that had broken gear teeth. This part was cheaper than the Honeywell product, and performed the same function with the same dimensions as the motor it was replacing. The newer Honeywell I think does a bit more providing open close position information. I had to do a little bit of research to ensure that I was installing it as Normally Open and Power Close motor which only determines whether it's installed with the actuator vent in an opened position or a closed one. For mine, it's installed in an Open position. After that little bit of research, it was simple to install but a little challenging tightening the set screw due to the motor being installed in an awkward place on an overhead vent where I couldn't actually see what I was doing and had to feel what I was doing. Tightening a set screw is easy to do when you're doing it while in a comfortable position. I was not in a comfortable position which is no direct fault of the motor but the set screw design change could have made it easier. The wiring change was easy after noting the wiring attachment on the old motor. The wire colorings were the same. I eventually got it installed (set screw tightened) and it has worked perfectly for the last two weeks.

Easy install, Just a few things.
This was a direct replacement for the Honey Well model as some have mentioned. Some things you may find helpful….1 First off, my damper is (N/O) normally open with power off. The N/O position on the old Honey well unit was at 2oclock, and the close position (energized) was approximately 10 O clock. Or whatever 90 degrees is, you get the picture…With the replacement unit, the N/O position on the motor is now at 8 O clock and when energized, rotates CCW 90 degrees to the closed (4 O clock). So although the N/O and N/C references change, it work just fine!Use the old long set screw from the old unit for the new unit, it will make your life easier. It is noisier then the original Honey well, but I’ll take that as I’m not sleeping next to it and it’s not a constant noise. I have high hopes and will follow up later. Even if this turns out not to work out, I know how easy it is to do it myself vs hundreds of dollars to pay someone for a five/ten minute job.

Overall good product and great value
this damper motor replaced the existing perfectly except the set screw is not extend out past the body of the housing like the original making it a PITA to adjust and tighten. I would give this product a 5 star rating had it had a longer set screw. Unfortunately the unit I received had been obviously returned as there was second tiny set screw was installed under the original which took me a while to figure out.

handy DIY replacement though may need some tweaking
These are working as a great replacement for my original Honeywell damper motors that were getting quite weak - often unable to move the dampers and sticking them either open or closed.I did find that the replacements were slightly mismatcehd in size -- the center-to-center distance between the axle and the side pin is 1.3" whereas the old motors were 1.325" and the dampers themselves are 1.375" (possibly a Honeywell manufacturing defect since there appears to be misalignment). That 0.075" difference meant that sliding in the VDM10 was quite difficult and moreover once installed this meant it applied too much side load and hugely increased the friction on the dampers, so it didn't even work! :-( Anyway, a quick workaround was to remove the plastic bushing from the damper where the side pin goes. That leaves a big loose hole, and then the VDM10 works quite well. Unfortunately this leaves a lot of backlash making it a bit trickier to set up.

Junk
Did not last 1 year, now there is a dead spot and sits there and vibrates or buzzes really loud until it engages. Buy a better one
