A bit of a challenge
I've built quite a few Eduard 1/48 aircraft and generally, their kits are some of the best on the market, this is not one of them I am afraid to say. The way it's been engineered is baffling. Hence, building this kit is a constant stream of fit issues... the fuselage is a really poor fit and there's several seam lines to sort out, the one over the engine canopy being very poor. Then the fit of the wings, well, just horrendous. I had to do a lot of sanding to even get them to fit and then you're left with several areas to level out gaps and overlaps. It took me hours to sort it all out and then further time to re-scribe panel lines and put the rivet marks back. After all that, I then find the flaps on the wings won't fit properly. I can not think of a kit I have constructed in recent years with this many fit issues. In the end, I was having to dry fit almost every part to identify where the next problem was coming from - then faff around to correct it. OK, it was quite rewarding to work round them all, but for your average modeller or God forbid, a beginner, this kit could be enough to put them off the hobby!Eduard kits are generally excellent, their 1/48 FW190 kits for example are just brilliant, but this kit is a real nightmare. However, having said that, if you want a challenge and you have the skills to tackle the issues, the end result is very good, especially in terms of the detail you get. So, be warned and if my comments scare you off, get the Tamiya P51; that's nowhere near in terms of detail, but far less likely to give you a thumping headache or have you shouting at the grey plastic in front of you!
