picture 1 is right after planting, picture 2 is in July.
I purchased this last spring for alongside our front door. It worked beautifully--the only concerns I have with this are that 1). There is no bar to hang the vertical planter--we had to come up with a metal rod in order to hang it. 2) I had to contact the company to get information about filling and watering. It came with no instructions. 3) it was cumbersome to fill. I do plan to purchase another for the garage--the idea that it is reusable works for me and it does hold moisture very well.

Make sure to keep watered
This is a really great idea, however, we have to make sure that the strawberries we planted in this is watered every day as the soil dries out quickly.

I was told that seedling mixtures might retain water better. Unfortunately
I received two phone calls and at least two emails asking me to review this product. I did make time to have a phone call from the customer service representative on the phone, in hopes of being helpful, or of having more success with these planters. I shared my feedback over the phone and asked some questions but didn't didn't really help. I wasn't going to review this product because I was unhappy with it but since I've just received another email, I'm giving in and writing a review now.I ordered four of these for my backyard. Two of them leak from the bottom section. When I water them, the water drains straight through the materials as if they are made of fabric. They do not retain water long enough for the soil to absorb the water. instead it either leaks out of the bottom or collects in the bottom, where the water sits stagnant, creating an ideal environment for mosquitos. I've tried watering the plants as much as twice a day, and I've tried different soil mixtures. I was told that seedling mixtures might retain water better. Unfortunately, the other challenge is that the plants lean so far out that it's a little hard to get the water to pout into the planters and not right out the front. So...the water either rolls off the top of the soil, or murky water drains straight through to the bottom (if you try to water closer to the back of the planters), which means the water gathers in the bottom most section, where is harbors pests, or overflows, spilling mud onto whatever is beneath it. I wasn't able to grow simple plants like lettuce or green beans, which are otherwise pretty easy because watering these planters were so ineffective and messy. Even the decorative plants didn't do very well.I wasn't going to write a review, and instead just chalk a loss over a cheap product, but since I've been asked so many times, I figure I might as well discourage someone else from potentially losing their money they spent on these planters, soil, and plants.
