Exactly what I wanted!
It’s a nice vintage lens and a good price for this famous lens. I did end up getting a 1978 MMZ version with “Helios” in Russian text… which for anybody wondering it’s the same lens-the English writing was made for export vs the Russian writing was made to be domestic use. (That’s the only difference and in my opinion I prefer the Russian text anyways)looks to be decently serviced no oil or gunk on the blades. Has the famous bokeh I want. Of course some wear from it being a vintage used lens and sometimes a little tough to move/handle butttt in my opinion that gives it character and is to be expected in a vintage lens. Ultimately I’m very satisfied with the price, build, and quality. Plopped on an adapter and got to shooting!

Wonderful old lens
Very good lens! I purchased the Valdai lens, not KMZ. Keep in mind these are old lenses. Still a very good value. Still highly functional and a pleasure to use.

If you want this, you probably already know...
Authentic vintage. This is it. Bokeh swirls unlike anything you'll get from a modern lens or post processing. Not very sharp. Manual focus. No electronics for EXIF metadata. Not the best micro-contrast (get a Leica APO-Summicron $$$$ for that, lol). And this lens needs some space (58mm can be tight so I would love something similar in the 35-24mm range with the same vibe). But nonetheless, it's a wonderful lens and stays on my camera as much as possible.Attached is a photo I took last weekend with this on a Fujifilm X-T4.

Somebody Opened This Lens
The lens I received had a couple concerning issues. There was a strand of red/orange hair (or synthetic fiber from a similarly colored towel) inside the lens. There was also a visible speck of dirt/dust on the inside of the lens (it appeared to be on the inner side of the convex lens) (see photos). There was excessive oil on both sides of the aperture blades and when set to the smallest aperture opening, gaps between some of the blades where visible on the other end (as if the blades were bent)(not easy to see on photos). There was slight play in between the lens and the m42 threaded section of the lens. And lastly, while there was little-to-no play in the focus ring when set in the fully extended 0.5-meter position, there was moderate play in the focus ring when set to the infinite position. All of these observations led me to believe that someone opened this lens up and did a terrible job servicing/cleaning the interior and did more damage to it upon reassembly.

Great condition
I expected it to be less than perfect being a vintage lens and all, but it is in near perfect condition! Shipped on time too!

No exactamente lo que esperaba
Lamentablemente mi unidad llegó con un hala del diagrama desubicada, por lo demás, el lente funciona como debe. Me lo quedaré pero tendré que llevarlo a reparar próximamente.
