Kink: Stories

Enjoyable and Thought-Provoking
I was very excited to get this book and thus my expectations were quite high. The first few stories however did not draw me in as much as I would have liked (perhaps I’m a bit further removed from the zeitgeist than I realized), but I stuck with the book. Some other stories I loved so perhaps there is something in here for everyone...at least one story in which something written will truly resonate with you. I underlined and made notes in the margins throughout of the book, so I’ll probably re-read soon and discover more. It’s worth a read for sure.

Send to your friend of a friend who is INCARCERATED
I used this book as a tool, as it is considered “literature,” and therefore it is considered as an “acceptable,” item to be sent directly from a large publishing house distribution (like Amazon) outfit. Books like these... are the closest thing to experiencing or hearing the voice of a woman that many men in the correctional systems throughout our county will get to a woman in years. When they did away with congital visits and with face to face vista during COVID the rate of prison violence and rape, increased as a direct result. So any way to give an incarcerated individual some sort of intamacy even through stories and studies ...is my contribution to cutting back on the disciplinary actions like solitary confinement, that many inmates incur after acting out their aggression accumulated from the inability to appropriately release their god given or uncontrollable bodily functions, the male testosterone levels and the behavior associated with an over abundance.

Eye opener
As a writer, in order for us to grow, it's been said that we need to break out of our comfort zone. This is certainly one of the books to do that with. It was not as romantic as I was hoping and some of the stories writing style was a little tough to follow sometimes.

No stories really stand out
This was such a hyped book on IG but it did not deliverLiked- an interesting concept - and I always like a short story collection- lots of great authors- some stories were really well developed and captivatingDidn't Like- most of them felt very flat to me- a lot of the same wording, same tone, same stories and very confusion- none of them really stood out for me or left me with interesting thoughts

Book is good but received damaged copy
See photos, I had to double check that I hadn’t purchased a used copy because there were so many scratches on the cover and the binding is worn.

Unhealthy depictions of kink
I had high hopes for the book when I picked it up and read the synopsis at the bookstore. I put it back as something to read later and ended up just getting the book on kindle. The very first thing I noticed off the bat with this book was that it consistently missed the mark when it came to consent. Stories range from anywhere to surprise somewhat kinky but still vanilla sex to straight up sexual assault. How was this book a best seller? Was it the authors? I certainly hope not. Some of the writing styles were abysmal and kept me wonder how they even got into this book. The fact that this book was toted as queer writing only to have any trans person fetishized in the stories and most of the gay people as borderline rapists. That’s not reality and it was just awful to have to slough through. I legit took me days to get through this.I feel like this book was more for the 50 shades type rather than actual people who actually engage in kink. Shock value is pretty much all you can take away from this book. Aside from that this book lacks any good substance.Avoid it.

Talky kink without eroticism
The generally strong caliber of the writing is the only pleasure to be had here. To try to present this as an exploration of kink or a nonjudgmental trip into the further reaches of human desire is extremely misleading. There is very little embrace of kink sexuality or eroticism without the constant drag of intellectualizing, moralizing, threat, or guilt.Track down Noirotica 3 by Thomas Roche to see how it can be done right.

OK, but generally mediocre
These stories are OK but way below the quality promised by the pre-release hype. They are mostly tales by preppy twens who think they are terribly brave to be even mentioning the subject of kink at all -- and of course we're going to intellectualize everything to death to demonstrate how normal and acceptable we really are. The writing is good but boring. Bad writing with more gritty honesty would have been a lot better.
