I am a big fan of Mel Taub's humor and intelligence. These puzzles were an adventure. I wish he'd put out more of this type, which used to be called "cryptic."I have been doing double crostics since the age of 12, when I subscribed to the Saturday Review back in the 60s, just to get the puzzle. And so I have encountered all the greats: Elizabeth Kingsley, Charles W. Duerr, Janet Elliot Cameron, among them. I'd put Mel Taub up there with them.

My (extremely intelligent) husband, who has Alzheimer's, is a guru at crossword puzzles, but his favorites are acrostic puzzles. I swear these puzzles are keeping his brain alive! Every single day he tells me about this puzzle book and how much fun he is having with it (every.single.day.)! And every.single.day. he asks me if there are any more out yet about this collection. So, please Mel Taub, publish more quickly!!! And if you need a tester, let me know. I'll sign him up. He truly lives for these puzzles. Thank you!

We are big crostic fans, and we always loved puns and anagrams when we found them. This collection is filled with consistently clever clues. The only thing close to criticism that I can offer is that maybe these puzzles are a bit too easy. We're used to the Thomas Middleton double-crostics, which are one beat more challenging. But we'd buy another collection of Taub's puzzles again in a minute, however.

I found these acrostics way to difficult to solve without pulling most of the answers from the solution page.

I love pun acrostics and to have an entire book of 50 of them is absolutely great.

I returned this. No one I know could ver guess these puns.

This is a unique collection of crostic puzzles with clues that contain puns and anagrams. If you like both crostics and cryptics, then you will be getting two for the price of one. I am having great fun solving them.

A big of a stretch on some of the puns, and certainly not limited to OED words or spellings, but bottom line, these are great entertainment.
