Does what it says it does and MORE.
I bought a fountain and put it in the front of my yard, but I did not want to bury an extension cord like line through my rock garden, snaking it into my garage and plugging it up. So I bought this solar powered unit and connected it to line of the existing fountain. I works very well. The pump will not run on cloudy days, I even stood in front of it on a sunny day, and my shade was enough to shut the pump off. The solar panel does not store the energy anywhere so there is no fountain on cloudy days. BUT the pump lives up to what the manufacturer said it would, so I have to give it 5 stars. If you want your pump to run in dark and little light, Don't buy this pump, You probably NEED an electric pump. But when I get home from work the pump is running, when I leave in the morning on sunny days it is running, that's good enough for me

Decent little bird bath pump
The media could not be loaded. We have a bird bath bowl (which is actually the dish that goes under a planter) located in our backyard surrounded by many trees. There are times when the sunlight can break through full on, but, most of the time the sunlight is partial. With that in mind, I looked for a bird bath pump that would still work in diffused light. While reading the reviews of this pump, I noticed several people that stated the pump works even in partial sun. Well, that is true, however, for me (due to all the trees and partial sunlight) the pump surges and does not provide a solid stream of water. I actually was glad that the pump "worked" at all in the diffused sunlight, even if it did do squirts. (see video) However, when the full sunlight did hit the solar panel, the water shot up about 12" continuously in a strong stream and looked just like what you would imagine for a fountain. The little breeze we were experiencing at that time caused the water to drain out pretty quick. Bottom line, if you want a full on fountain spray, this fountain is a good one, however, you will need to have full on sunlight. If all you need is a way to move the water around to help attract birds and keep the water clearer, then you are still good with this pump. Hope this helps!

Best Bath for the Birds
I have been running this solar bird bath pump all summer long and now into the winter of a new year. I built a bird bath using a large plant pot, a couple of pot trays, some gravel and river stones. The pump and solar panel have both worked better than expected. I have had no maintenance problems with either component. Since I mounted the solar panel high on a trellis to catch the most sun I had to purchase an extension for the pump power cable. The only problem I had was on very sunny days when the fountain would spurt too high and overshoot the bath. I solved this problem by placing a piece of screen over the head of the fountain nozzle to slow the water flow. I think this solar fountain is well worth the money.

Short life on water pump.
I loved this pump but it died after 11 months. It was great while it lasted.

Edited: originally pump didn't start reliably, mesh bag filter clogs quickly
Ran fine the first time I ran it. After that, it would not restart when sun light is interrupted and then reilluminated. I could get the pump to run by taking it apart and bumping the rotor, but then again it wouln't restart after a interruption of the sun light. However, after getting it to run a whole day of sunlight, the shaft stickiness apparently was worn smooth, and nowcit start reliably wheh the sun comes out. The only filter provided is a mesh bag which clogs quickly (week or two) with algae in my birdbath. It does clean easily under a faucet.

Works well!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to put in a bird bath in my side garden and it works very well. The bird bath is too small for any of the fountain attachments to be used so I can’t rate those. The fact that the solar collector attaches via a long cord gives you choices on where the fountain can be placed…in the shade or on a covered patio. Mine is in the full sun because I like the sparkle of the sunlight on the water. There are three section cups on the bottom of the unit which hold it in place preventing water from being splashed over the side. Very happy with this solar fountain!

Powerful little pump
The media could not be loaded. I ordered two of these. One is in a birdbath. The other is in a pottery canister. Both are intended for the birds that visit my feeders. And I just ordered two more.I want to respond to people who say their pumps quit working. I've had a lot of experience with these small pumps in my pet fountains. They sometimes clog, from the intake being covered with debris or from mineral deposits collecting in the pump. This is to be expected, and in fact one of mine quit working after a week. A nighttime visitor must have left some fur behind, because it was covering the intake. I easily removed it, but the pump didn't restart. The pumps are made to be taken apart for cleaning, so I did exactly that. First I turned the solar panel face down. The intake end will come off, and the magnetic pump can be taken out. I made sure it was able to move and not obstructed, reassembled it, and it started right up as soon as I turned the solar panel to the sun. After very long use with hard water, if you see mineral deposits when you open the pump, soak it in vinegar, then rinse. You should get years of use from the pump. If you are wary of cleaning it, look on YouTube. There are tutorials for everything.
