I purchased Bob XL to practice Krav Maga when I'm not in class. I have found this to be a way to stay sharp between classes. Of course you can't do everything with Bob like in a class setting with a live partner, than again there are some punches I can do to Bob I can't do to a live partner. To fill Bob I used a plastic gallon milk jug, just cut the bottom off turned upside it down, sits right in the fill hole and used a bungee cord wrapped around the plastic part that Bob sits in and the handle of the milk jug, filled it with 5 50lb bags of play sand. The sand was very dry (like everything else this Summer in Texas) so it took me by myself maybe 10 minutes at the most to fill. The plastic milk jug never moved and made pouring in the base a snap. Also, you will see on the Amazon page a green funnel, that does not come with it. One of the other folks bought that at a local Auto store for $5.00 dollars and posted the picture of what he used to fill the base with sand. It looks misleading because the picture is right next to picture of Bob XL. In many of the reviews I can tell that folks though that came with it. I have Bob in my garage in my apartment, and yes you can and will rock the base with good punches so you have to have him in a place that won't bother others. Punching his head doesn't quiet feel exactly right, but if you punch at his chin than a bit more life like feel, than higher up, still very good target practice! I can use Bob like a punching bag if I raise him up and punch into his chest. I'm only 5'7 155 pounds, so I would say if you are a big guy with some weight to boot I don't know if you would be satisfied with just having Bob, maybe have a 100lb heavy bag also. For me though at my size Bob works fine for that. Wear gloves, I use the Century Adults' Leather Martial Arts Wrap Gloves I use in Krav Maga for hitting, they work well, just sized a little small, so you need to test fit them, along with any glove really unless you've used them before. I found them at a local Academy Sports here in Texas. So I have found Bob XL to be an excellent investment, the shipping was very fast, ordered on a Thursday afternoon, got him from Fed Ex the following Monday afternoon. I run a lot, so on days in between running I'll go out into my garage for an hour and give Bob a beating, I do a variety of 2 minute drills similar to drills we do in class to get my heart rate up and to push myself, and I always come way drenched, so you can get a excellent workout if you push yourself. I have also noticed my punches are getting much stronger and I gotten into even better shape using Bob. I practice a variety of punches, elbows, and all the different techniques we use in Krav Maga, side kicks, you do have to be careful with front kicks if you kick too low, you could hit the plastic Bob sits on (In Krav we really don't focus on high kicks like in other MMA's do) I've been trying to find something that I can wrap around that area (between Bob and the base) to cushion that area so I don't bust a toe if I miss kicking Bob in the groin, haven't found anything I'm satisfied with yet. So I am very satisfied with my purchase of Bob XL, and I would certainly get the XL over the smaller Bob, worth the extra money. So if you use Bob he will make an excellent training tool, if you don't.... Well it's not like the rails on the sides of a tread mill that you can hang cloths on. Then again I guess you could use Bob has a mean looking mannequin, and like someone else said, very useful for Halloween! If your serious about whatever kind of Mixed Marital Arts, Boxing, or training you are doing, I would highly recommend Bob XL.

I don’t know what to add that other people already haven’t (about set up, water vs. sand, etc.). I will say it arrived days before the delivery date, packaged appropriately, no damage, exactly as expected. I am very pleased with the set. It’s better than I expected really. Because of some reviews about his head being too soft, it moving around too much, or being too loud, I was hesitant prior to purchasing. I live on the upper floor of a condo building so this was a small concern for me. But it’s not loud at all imo. Putting it on top of foam padding also helps (and looks better :) ). For me and my size, it’s perfect for what I need right now. I am not a large powerful man. I am a tall woman. The entire setup is perfect for me, weight is perfect at my level. I’m just starting out with Mauy Thai and find it extremely useful and helpful to review what I learn in class/training more, at home. It’s helpful with body conditioning, endurance, cardo at home, reviewing what you learned that day or week in training. Anyway, it’s been around for a long time. As a newbie, I recommend this set, find it valuable, and am happy with the purchase and shipping process from this seller.

I hesitated purchasing this for quite a while due to the price but left it in my cart. A couple of weeks ago, the price dropped over thirty bucks and I couldn't resist any longer, especially with the free prime shipping. I had debated about getting the regular sized BOB (no lower torso portion) but I am glad I chose the bigger one. I received a call from the delivery people asking what day I could be home for delivery, although they did advise they could not provide an exact time. They arrived before 10a on the scheduled day; the delivery guy was super nice and there was no damage to the boxes. The base comes in a tall, hexagonal shaped box and BOB himself comes in a large rectangular box. Other than putting water or sand in the base, setup is easy as you just slip BOB over the base and adjust to the height you want. You will definitely want a large funnel to help with putting sand in the base; I chose sand over water because although the base seems very thick and strong, I did not want to risk it springing a leak in my house. The larger BOB version is easy to punch and knee with ease. However, be forewarned for the first few days, you will jump or be startled every time you walk in the room where he is located. It took me about 3 days to get used to him, but visitors always freak out. LOL I have punched BOB with my bare hands as well as with fingerless gel gloves and boxing gloves, too. I do not recommend using your bare hands as the texture of BOB can rub or irritate your skin after a few hits. All of my friends have had a go at BOB when they come over and everyone really likes him. There is just something about punching a life-sized and realistic object which far exceeds a bag for me. He is very well made and feels like he will last forever. Gloves do rub off or "scar" his skin, but that should be expected. I have a t-shirt on him for now, although I really like the feel of punching without it. I look forward to getting some great cardio workouts with BOB for a long time.

Easy to exercise with, even for special needs child. Excellent quality.

Haft den i över 3 år nu och den är fortfarande som ny, roligaste tränings redskapet någonsin! Funkar bra för både nybörjare och proffs. Alla som går in på mitt rum blir direkt nyfikna och även om alla inte vågar erkänna de så vill alla testa slå på den, till o med farmor :D, vem vill inte testa slå en "människa" utan konsekvenser :) haha.

C'est Bob. Connu, reputé, idéal en appartement car moins encombrant qu'un sac, moins bruyant aussi et si on ne veut pas avoir à pratiquer avec ses voisins et rester sympathique et bien c'est important. Aucun sac sans fixation ne propose cette densité de contact, ce poids et cette possibilité de le taper sans se retourner sans cesse. Pour un travail technique, pour la vitesse et la précision, il est impeccable, il permet "d'appuyer" sans envoyer à pleine puissance encore que, n'étant pas hyper lourd tout en vieillissant, j'arrive à avoir de bonnes sensations. Cela en ne l'ayant remplit qu'avec de l'eau (à ras bord) car le sable, en appartement, si un jour je devais le vider...j'ai renoncé et cela va, il doit peser près de 120 kg là...j'en fais 80.. Son dessin permet de travailler d'autres frappes ce qui compense ses limites par rapport à un bon vieux sac. Réglable, mes enfants peuvent même s'en servir et regrettent de ne pas pouvoir taper la tête. Reste le prix : bob est le meilleur, il le sait, il le fait lourdement payer mais je ne regrette absolument pas d'avoir misé sur la qualité vu la contrainte de l'appartement.
