The Science of Stephen King: The Truth Behind Pennywise, Jack Torrance, Carrie, Cujo, and More Iconic Characters from the Master of Horror

Stephen King dissected and explained
The 2 authors have done their homework. Although they do not explain every book that King has ever written, they do a good job of doing the major works from each 10 year era. They retell the plots and then attempt to explain the "science" behind the story; even frequently interviewing experts in the field. It is interesting and easy reading. A book that most constant King readers (fans) will enjoy.

This is a very interesting book......
A lot of the reviews were negative, mainly because it wasn't a typical Stephen King novel. I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews, however a few of them accurately described the books intent and theme. If you want a King novel, then buy the correct book. But if you are looking into the background of King's methods and inspirations, then this is an excellent read. Certainly it is not 100% accurate or in agreement with your individual expertise, but overall it does a creditable job of providing background and explanation to the theme of some of King's past and current novels. Well worth the investment if you are a "constant reader"...!

Great Read for King Fans
I enjoyed this book and how it uncovered scientific explanations for many character and plot twists in the books. I'm now inspired to re-read some of the books with a new perspective. This book pointed out several facts that I hadn't considered.

Of course it's true.
After a lifetime of reading King I am convinced that he is a prophet. It was good to have someone take the time to put scientific proof to his tales. A highly interesting book.

If you are a Stephen King fan, THIS. WAS. GARBAGE. lolI'm returning it after having to skim and scan through this bs. I read about 40 pages, then gave up.Seriously the authors touch on Kings stories by telling a bit about it, a little paragraph or two summing up the story, then focusing the rest of the "chapter" talking about random stuff that has SOMETHING to do with each story. Filling the pages with random interviews about random things, from random people. I wish I had my hour or so I wasted reading this, back.Example, for Liseys Story, they tell a tiny bit about the story, then take a few pages interviewing a counselor about grief and losing someone. In the few pages about Thinner, we listen to them speak about weight loss...Another example is of course is IT, where they sum it up in about four paragraphs, then spend pages taking about how children in hospitals were part of a study to see if clowns scared them or helped their health when visiting the children in the hospital??? WHAT!!!???? So BORING!!!THEN after pages of boring us with stories or interviews with random people, Drs, etc. THEY LITERALLY GIVE AWAY THE ENDING TO EVERY FREAKING KING STORY!!!I am a fan of King, but have not read all of his stories and novels, but now I know the end to them all though! Thanks ladies...Another thing I hated were the little boxes in the middle of each page with absolutely useless tid bits and facts they thought pertained to the stories. They did not and most weren't even interesting.Another thing that irked me was the few interviews or statements, etc. from King himself, were from well known interviews that I've seen before. One was in an episode of Eli Roth's history of horror where he speaks of his addictions and getting hit by a car, then writing specific stories, under the influence, etc...it's stuff we've heard before many times from King, so it was nothing new. To me, this book had nothing much to do with King, just a way for the authors to make money OFF of his work by talking about random stuff. I don't know who the authors are, haven't cared to look, but I'm assuming they have never written ANYTHING good. All in all, this book is crap and I'm returning it. I even got it for a real discount, less than$10..Not worth it to keep.I would not recommend it to anyone, seriously anyone.
