No, it's really not that kind of fishing reel its a sport action casting reel. Not a boat drift or bank fish reel. Although you could. But I will say this about the kast king, it's a bad ass casting reel it blows away any reel I've ever owned. For the money. You won't be sorry.

Just typical of any baitcast reel. Loading string is straightforward.

Is it good for bank fishing

You can use it for bank fishing BUT it does not have a free (spool clicker) or (bait clicker) to alarm you if your getting a bite, So you might want to make sure your rod n reel is anchored in place, In a holder or something, so you don't lose it if a large fish takes off with your line...
