Best Beginner Book Ever
I don't normally take the time to write a review, even tho I do read them. But, I had to for this little book. I am truly a beginner. And a complete dummy when it comes to reading directions. I'm a "show me" kind of person. But, this little book is SOOOO easy to understand & follow. It packs a large deal of great information in such a small book. I get frustrated if I have to wade thru a bunch of, what I call "filler" directions. This is straight to the point & easy to understand wording & photos. I can't recommend this book enough. Worth ever penny!

Best beginner knitting book I’ve found so far
I’ve bought a few how-to books on knitting. A lot of them have very hard to decipher diagrams, but this one has been really easy to follow. Plus it has a step by step approach so that you can learn and practice each stitch pattern. This is the book I pack with my knitting supplies when I travel. I love it!

Fine to help teach knitting
I teach knitting at a senior center. I am left handed and have found teaching right handers to knit is confusing to both. Sometimes a video is not good enough. The well-photographed steps for the knit and purl stitches available in print, along with my verbal encouragement, make for excellent completion of each stitch.

Great beginner book!
I'm just now learning to knit and wanted to get a few more tips on how to read patterns (easy ones) and an idea on how to knit a scarf for my son - that he would actually want to wear. I found this book to be a perfect guide to my new hobby. Clear pictures and directions that let me take it at my own pace -- and to know that making 'swatches' before starting a big project is a 'thing' -- and it's making my project turn out better than expected.Highly recommend!

cool book
i bought it as a gift for my girlfriend who says that the instructions make sense. what makes the book exceptional to my eye is the photography. Those sequences of photographs showing hand and needle positions as you progress thru the stitching are lucid, and the illustrative photos of modelswearing the final products are well composed, shapely, color orchestrated, suggesting what you can doonce you master the techniques. this book is well made all the way around.

Another beginning knitting book that doesn't understand beginners
I looked through the projects. The first 2 are simple scarves. They then jump to becoming pretty hard with confusing directions. And I got rid of this book in annoyance after coming across a sentence in the introduction. ".....casting on, knitting, and binding off. You'll find that learning these three steps is easy." Really? What about those of us who didn't find it easy? Is it really necessary to insult some of your readers? I struggled to learn those three things, and was pleased and proud of myself when I did.

Beginning & More
When I bought this book I was looking for a refresher as I already knew how to knit. This book has taught me stitches and has patterns I have never seen before. It might start off as a beginner and very in depth but by the end of the book you will be more than a beginner!

Great for Beginners
I'm an expert knitter and have been knitting for years. I have a friend that wanted to learn. While I did teacher her the basics in person, I wanted her to have a book with instructions and information that she would be able to refer to as she is knitting in case she had any questions. From what I saw of this book when I got it, it has all the information a beginner needs to get started. Although, I only saw one method of casting on in the beginning of the book when there are several different ways. But, yeah, it's a great beginner book.
