A Must-Read for Families of All Ages ...
I really admire and respect the Duggars. Although some aspects of their life may not be for everyone, it is refreshing to see a family raising their children with good old-fashioned values. their four oldest daughters have done an amazing job of relating the advice of their parents' in such a way that people of many different walks can borrow, imitate, and adapt this wisdom to any situation.Even though the Duggars have 19 kids, I really appreciate how Jim-Bob and Michelle work to educate their children and also teach them valuable life skills as well as impart learning points with great cultural significance. I like how all the kids have music in their lives especially. Plus, it is very inspiring to see a family that lives debt-free, and lives frugally. My brother and I were brought up in a somewhat similar fashion.I'm a 44 year old female and a former Army Helicopter pilot, so I'm not really sure why I felt compelled to buy this book, as I'm obviously not a teenage girl nor am I a parent, but I must say it is Excellent for teens and older. It is more oriented towards young ladies probably 13 or 14 and older, But I think it would also be an excellent read for parents who have boys or girls. In fact, I hope the Duggar boys will write their own book as well, as I'm certain many young men would benefit from the Duggar outlook on life!Overall, the advice in this book is spot on. Their solutions for dealing with tattling, bickering, gossip, and other issues is very well thought out, and it is clearly very successful based on how well rounded and well behaved the Duggar children are!!Even though I've watched the tv shows for years, I plan to read the other books now. :)Buy it -- you will love it! Great job Duggar girls!!

Duggar Family Life from the Children's Perspective
I received my pre-ordered download of this book the day it came out and I am just now finishing it-3 months later. Yes I have the everyday distractions of a busy mom to three but I also wanted to take my time and not just read the words but truly absorb the stories, lessons and godly advice from these young ladies. I have been watching the Duggar family since their story was only specials on TLC, now they have their own show-what an amazing work God has done in their lives and through their family. I am a mom of three small girls and I will definitely make sure each of my girls reads this book. At times this book was hard to read because I have such regret with my own growing up, so many mistakes I made so many decisions I wish I could do again. I pray I do a better job with my girls. I highlighted section after section that was not only knowledgeable but encouraging. This book and this family's story is obviously not for everyone. You have to be interested in living a life committed to Christ to appreciate their story. I do not agree with all of the Duggar's practices but for the most part I do admire how they have raised and are raising their children. I enjoyed the point of view in which this book was written it was as if the girls were merely sitting and chatting over coffee. If you are raising godly children or ever wanted to know what the Duggar life was all about from the children's perspective you will need this book-and I don't think you will regret it.

sweet
This book has a target audience. Those who are not in this 'target' have said some nasty and even untrue things. The book is about the Duggars, about their beliefs, about their lives as conservative Christians. Why would you buy a book that you already know you are going to hate?I found the book to be exactly what I thought it would be - sweet with family values that I admire. The girls gave some examples of how Michelle and JimBob actually teach their children - and that includes NOT JUDGING. The girls are not 'robots' because they believe as their parents do.A point of fact - people get offended at something you do (or don't do) that they don't (or do) because they feel judged.I am not of their faith. I do not have children to homeschool. I listen to rock music and watch TV. I do not feel judged. I HAVE seen how others raise their children and wish more -most - were like the Duggars! So, if you already like the Duggars, you will enjoy the book. If we had more people in the world like them, kind and giving, then life would be a whole lot less stressful. People are so...unkind to each other today.

Loved it!
This book was inspiring, humbling, amazing and interesting! The girls talk about their relationship with parents, siblings, the world, the community and several other realms but throughout it all is the concentration of their involving the Lord in every aspect of their lives. I think what I liked most is that as the girls were saying how their family handled certain things, they made sure to emphasize over and over "this is the way our family does it and here is why. But everyone should make his/her own choices!" I love the way that the parents have taught the kids to maximize on their own individual strengths and also to be good citizens in the world. Although they've been blessed to be free from many of the world's temptations as a result of their family's experience, it's not as if they are kept locked up at home; they have been involved in both domestic and international missions, they have had quite a bit of political involvement, they've done disaster relief, prison ministry and a whole host of other service related things, not to mention the travels they have gone on just for fun. I got some very good ideas to help as I'm raising my own two young children and I'll probably read this book multiple times. It's a refreshing look at how just one person can have an impact on the world and I would definitely recommend it for girls 12+ and also parents.

Its a gentle and loving book
An easy to read book with each girl giving their own experience of how they live out their faith, its gentle and very loving with a huge amount of respect for their parents, and how they have chosen to live differently observing biblical principles.I think its interesting and refreshing to read of faith in action that doesn't resort to violence to get their point across. It didn't make me want to go and join them, but I'm not the age group its aimed at.If I had a daughter I would encourage her to read it as an alternative, to peer/ media pressure which encourages children, to starting adult relationship before they are emotionally ready.

Very interesting book which covers the basic questions going though people's head. The girls seem to have been taught well by their parents and that is the most important thing regardness of whether you approve or disapprove of their lifestyle. I find that the book was well written, full of practical advice for Christian ladies of their age group (I am 39 so a little too old) and it may come in handy one day for those of us hoping to be parents one day and want to raise them as men and women of god.
