Quality Skotch Eye Wood Auger
I've been testing out this hand Auger and it has been great. When it arrived it came in nice packaging, so I figured it would be a quality tool. It also came in a canvas pouch, which made it nice for storing it with my other bushcraft tools (The safety tip was a nice touch). So far I've made a mallet and started making some furniture with it. The bit is very sharp and the weld point is very well done. I've had scotch eye augers before, and they were never this high of quality. It's always been difficult to find a good one. The lead screw on it is nice and long so that it grabs a hold of the wood really well. I've used it in some hardwoods so far and have been very pleased! This auger is even coated with an electrophoresis coating. If you don't know what that is, basically it creates a very strong resistant surface. I highly suggest this auger for your survival pack or if you simply want a nice settlers wrench.

A perfect add to my survival kit.
This is by far my favorite new toy!! I have it in my ruck sack, waiting to go but it is made right !! I have confidence that it’ll do fine and last me a long time. I had previously ordered one from their competitor and it arrived after this unit did. Let me save you all the anguish I went through with that other company and tell you all to BUY HERE. This unit is better constructed than their competition, and comes with a protective tip cover and a nice case to store it in so you don’t mess up your back packs or other carrying devices. They really thought of everything.

Solid if not sexy
Good solid piece of kit. Well made, obviously function was more important than form. The welds aren't cleaned up but they look like they were done by someone who was at least halfway competent. The threads were well sharpened and even. Works very well. Only recommendation is to grease the thing before storing it as it is a high carbon non stainless and it will surface rust without some sort of moisture protection after a couple of uses. The grease also helps to get it started the next time you use it.

Does the job
It's great. Came sharp and was easy to use. In hindsight I would buy a longer one because its too short in my opinion. but it's not a fault of the product but a matter of my own preference.

great gift for an outdoorsman
I got this for my cousin and he loved it, our first camping trip out he dug a hole, put a branch in the hole, bore a hole in the top of the branch, put a smaller branch in the hole, then hung his lantern. Very satisfying and rewarding to use.

Impressed, long lasting quality.
Bought this the other day, was beyond excited when it arrived. So excited that even though it was raining and cold I got some wood went to my shed and started drilling. I'm trying to start a personal journey to build a relationship with nature and being able to build with my environment, this will be a huge help and I can't wait for the rain to let up. Everything from storage of the product to the product is quality ladies and gentlemen.

Not exactly what I expected.
The auger looks like it will work as it should but the eye is just a short piece of pipe that is welded on. I was expecting at least one end to have been sharpened to slice through the wood easier. Also the pipe’s outside diameter is the same as the auger meaning the joints made will have slop due to the difference in diameters. In a survival situation, I doubt that I would care or even complain since pretty or perfect won’t be my worry. All in all it seems well made just the sizing and sharpening issues that I don’t like. I’ll probably end up sharpening the one end and adding mass to the other to give me a better place to beat on.

Danke!!

It was pretty good to start but after I tested it through two pieces of wood the biting part became blunt and it just could never grip onto anything from then

If you are planning on drilling a lot of holes and have no electricity, this is the item for you. Cut a branch off a tree, stick it through the hole at the top, and start drilling. I used my wife's broom handle, for mine, and she hasn't found out about it, yet! If the wood is dry, this thing cuts through like butter. Wet wood, not so much, but still acceptable for an old guy like me, with arthritis. In some applications, I could see a longer auger being more diverse, but this works for everything I need it to do. Thanks!

The auger comes in a poorly constructed case that won't last very long. The auger itself appears to look good quality, the weld at the top is worse that I could achieve myself and I am not convinced it will last. The screw on the end of the bit worked well but as soon as it tried to cut a hole it ran into problems, although it looked like it could be sharp it blunted immediately and would not make a neat hole. I have tried resharpening it but it doesn't seem to want to keep an edge, I suspect it is poor steel, I am also questioning the angle of the edge. I'm glad I tested it at home and not out in the woods when I would have needed it.
