No MSG, adds umami and a mild heat that doesn't overwhelm & the XXL size is awesome!
I've tried a lot of chili crisp. Fly By Jing is always consistent and the one I keep coming back to. The XXL size is fantastic too. It's a spicy, salty, garlicky oil full of umami and has a mild heat that doesn't overwhelm or leave your mouth burning. I use it in marinades, stir frys, eggs, ...you name it. I haven't tried it on ice cream, but it pairs well with almost any food. A spoonful added to any can of chicken style soup will add a warmth and take it to the next level.

Tasty and mildly spicy
These are so good. We probably finished a jar in a week. They go well with many Asian foods.

Versatile and Unique
Sure this stuff is a bit expensive, but it is delicious and nothing else really compares to the taste. I have used and bought several chili crisps now and although I do like all of them for different reasons, this one has a very unique taste and is perfect for ramens, stir fry, kimbap, rice bowls, etc. I also really like it on pizza, although I have yet to try it on ice cream. I will say you get a lot more oil to chili crisp ratio in the Fly By Jing compared to some other brands that are more chili crisp with less oil and the chilis are finer and more mashed, so a softer texture and less crunch, but it has a very unique taste to it. It is worth getting the larger size - much better value as it lasts forever in the fridge. Not too hot - there is a hotter version, but I prefer the original for versatility.

Adds tasty Sichuan flavor
I love specifically the Sichuan flavor to this sauce, although it's less crunchy bits/garlic and more oil than similar brands. It is not very spicy, I really only eat medium spicy things and I can put as much as this on my food as I want. Kinda leads to going through it too fast. Good value if on sale, less so at full price (it's a pretty small jar).

Loooove!
This chili oil completes me 😍 But really though, we’ve bought this like 4 times already this year and we loooooove it in our house hold. Listen, in our household we have to have our spicy sidekick every meal. No, this chili oil isn’t super hot but it has flavor: smoky, slightly tangy, complex flavor and crunchy texture. This size last us a good month if we make several Asian inspired meals. Even my Mexican Mom liked this oil so much I had to buy her a jar of it for her to take home. My mom likes spicy, but doesn’t stray from her typical salsitas too often. If it pleases her palate I’m sure it can please many! We usually use this hot oil when eating anything like rice bowls, store sushi, or frozen dumplings to elevate them a bit 😊

texture is oily, lid is slippery.
UPDATE: The seller reached out and offered a refund. I refused because I did not want to take money away from a small business owner. However they refunded me anyway. I cannot say enough good things about the owners. They are truly honest and kind people with a generous heart and it was much appreciated! A rare commodity on Amazon. I gave the 2nd jar to my sister and she actually loved it. She likes salty and spicey, so it depends upon the consumer. If you love spicey stuff with that "umami savory" taste (that certain "something" that makes a savory dish taste yummy), then I think this would be for you. We've been using it on our morning eggs and we like that the best, it's perfect with eggs. :-) I had too high hopes for this after seeing a report on a morning show about it. I had never heard of chili crisp and it sounded fantastic, and the small business that owns it seemed like good people. So I wanted to test it out. Could only find it in a local Target store, but it was very pricey. Amazon charged the same price but at least it was for 2 jars instead of one. Many reviewers said that the texture was oily and to make sure you stir it well (which I did). It was good on stir fry and also eggs, (on savory foods mostly), but we found it to be a bit too spicy for our taste and it had an oily taste (and not the pleasant kind, but more of an aged oily feel and taste). We decided to just keep and use it for eggs and stir fry which it was mostly good with. I put the opened used jar in the fridge to keep it fresher, but one day, when I reached for the jar, the lid felt a bit oily, when I tried to gently open it, it slipped and flew out of my hands and half the contents (worth about $5.50) went all on the front of my favorite shirt and on the floor and freshly painted wall! Luckily, some good stain removal soap removed it from the shirt, and I wiped it off the wall before it could stain. This all happened right before a party we were having, so I cleaned up the floor area before I could take a pic of that also. It reaked of old rancid oil for 2 days after. The biggest complaint of this product is that they did not design the lids well. They are not securely tight fitting in the first place, and if the inner part of the lid gets oily (which is pretty easy), then the lid seems to easily loosen, and could also easily slip out of your hands while opening. Just a warning to people who buy it, be very careful and hold it over your sink when opening. Also, it tasted a bit too salty to us, so a little goes a long way. I plan on giving the second jar to a relative, as we did not really care for the taste enough to keep a 2nd jar of it. If you do buy it, make sure to stir it WELL before using it, or you'll just get a mouthful of seasoned oil.

No expectations, but its pretty good
Never had chili oil before so I wasn't sure what to expect. It reminds me sort of like a pesto? Only this doesn't get annoying. Pesto is ok but you definitely can't put it on everything. This taste very Italian to me, like an herb focaccia is the closest thing I can describe it to. It has good heat to it, you can tell its there but it's a good heat. Not overbearing either. I made some eggs and just put a spoonful of this instead of olive oil. Damn good flavor. I then put it in some ramen but I'd have to tweak the mix ins, it was overpowered by everything else. I put some on a subway sandwich, I got wheat but with a thin layer of this it tasted like the Italian cheese bread. If you like Italian food its a good replacement for pesto imo. But as for Asian inspired I can't tell because I've never had it in that sense. It's good though. The oil was very runny when I used it first, but after leaving it in the fridge it solidified a little and then I could see all the volume of ingredients. ALOT of ingredients in there. Almost the entire jar full. Should last a good while, will likely buy again.

Versatile, tasty spicy, chili, garlic oil for sauces, noodles, dumplings... well, everything!
I bought this for a recipe that called for crunchy garlic chili oil, and wow! I'm so impressed! I've used this so much in so many recipes that I used the whole jar in two weeks! It's so versatile. As with most spicy oils and garnishes, the spice level depends on how much you use. The crunchy garlic adds a nice texture to the sauce. I've used this in dumpling/gyoza dipping sauce, in a sauce for noodles, in stir fry, and on vegetables, which is great, since I'm not a big vegetable fan, but this gives everything so much flavor! Just wish the jar was bigger! LOL
