No. The soles are rubber for the pair I bought. Most martial arts dojo have mats or pads and would rather you not wear shoes at all. But in any case I have used these on all types of floors without a problem.

They do hold up for a bit, but the type of terrain will matter in terms of how long they hold up.

Q: Are these pair are as flexible and comfortable as sibba brand?

I have not worn the sibba brand, but these are very comfortable and flexible. I use them for historical fencing, and they feel like an extension of my foot.

Q: Every pair of these style shoes i have slip down at the heel. shoe size is correct and it doesn't matter how thick the socks i wear. avoid this how?

I think tat it is a weakness of the shoe - not you. I only wore mine once.
