Recently bought an inexpensive introductory bagpipe kit. That kit had a bad reed. Installed one of these and problem solved. Also really like the practice chanter from them. Well made products from this vendor.

Each of the four chanter reeds sounded very cheap and more like a kazoo than a bagpipe reed. Not a great value either. The reeds are cheaply made and did not hold up well. I went through all four and struggled to get the tone out of my chanter that I was looking for.

This is a nice way to try out different Chanter Reeds. My McCallum Chanter came with a Frazer. I always like options, and this fits the bill.

Chanter reeds arrived as ordered. Response was extremely quick. The reeds provide a nice variety of practice chanter tones.

Great price and way to try some reeds. As a new player I would only have wished they were clearly labeled as to which is which. A pro would know, but not me.

Pretty much a perfect set of synthetic reeds. Only one reed had a slight variation of tone.

Who knows what makes one plastic practice chanter reed any better? Well here you get to try several at reasonable cost. First they all sound fine. One is slightly buzzier on the high hand and takes more air. Three produce a balanced “clean” sound. One takes very little air and shuts off easily, but is fine once adjusted to. All are close to the same volume in loudness (tested on a sound meter). They look different enough in size of blades and overall shape you’d expect more variation but in a blind test they all sound good enough. Your chanter shape may impact this. Overall a fun cheap experiment and good to have a couple of backup reeds.
