Great cage so far! Easy setup!!
So after reading all the reviews, I decided to give it a shot and make the purchase. Besides, there are so many different cages to choose from and this seemed to be the best fit for us based on cost and size. When the box came it was in perfect condition. I was relieved, since reading about damaged boxes and bent pieces. So I kept my fingers crossed when I was opening the box and saw that everything was neatly packaged and didn't see any damage to any of the pieces. I looked over the instructions and began putting it together. It was pretty much a no-brainer. It took me about 30 minutes to put it together and didn't need any help. So far I was very happy. Before I put the top piece on (last step of the setup), I tapped the sides of the cage to check out the acoustics - that seemed to be the biggest complaint, that the cage was LOUD. I can see what they meant. I can see it getting pretty loud with a critter jumping around inside. I wasn't too concerned since the cage was going to be in the basement and we slept two floors up. But just to try to lessen the rattling, I put electrical tape in the grooves where the two sides slide in from the top. That helped lessen the sound a bit, since the sides weren't rattling in those grooves - less metal to metal banging. The rest of the cage can still get noisy, but that's going to be bother some people more than others. Doesn't bother us. I love that the levels and ladders are all metal. The only plastic is the bottom tray. I've read about Chinchillas eating and chewing on plastic, so my daughter said that we needed to get an all metal cage. The opening seems to be pretty secure and allows enough space to access the interior. The space for the bottom shelf could be a little taller - had to lay most supplies on it's side. Not a big deal though. It's nice to have a shelf to just keep things under the cage and keep things organized. All in all, a great experience. I guess I might have been one of the lucky ones that got a cage that didn't have broken or bent pieces. If anything changes when we pick up our Chinchilla and he lives in it for a few weeks, I will update my review.

Best Cage Yet
This cage is well worth every penny I spent for it. Assembly was easy (I had another person to help). I was worried the door was going to be too small but I can get anywhere in the cage with ease. My rats also love their new home, with all the extra space I was able to put some of their old toys, that could not fit in the other cages, into this one for them to play with. The storage on the bottom and the wheels are great too, making it easy to get supplies and clean. The all metal design is perfect, I learned the hard way with my first plastic bottom cage that my girls love to explore. I highly reccomend this cage to any rat owner, it is well worth the extra money. In the description it says that there is also a door on the roof of the cage and there is not. That would be my only complaint but the door in the front is big enough to eliminate the need for another door.

It's a decent size, little frustration regarding assembly - Great for baby rats!
This cage took me some time to put together, I would say about under an hour and it was just the actual installation. My issue was if the manufacturer would of had the bars lined up all properly for the slots there suppose to go in, than the installation would be super easy probably 10 mins tops yes that's how easy it would of been! However not in our case I had to setup our doors on the opposite side due to the fact it wouldn't and couldn't line up to the holes it was off by a 1/4 inch so the other side fit perfectly there and than the other side I ended up having to take a hammer to bend one of the wires because it wouldn't go into the hole since it was off as well. Once I bent it, than it all went together and I was able to use the screws provided and allen key, they give you a extra screw as well. I thought I might have a gap when I had bent it to fit, but I didn't and it surprisingly worked out alright I mean It would be more of a hassle trying to disassemble and return hoping to get a perfect cage than just make due with what I have. The only part that sucks is now in order to take the bottom pan out of the cage I have to turn the cage around to unlock it since those bars didn't fit properly with the door, but it works Overall the cage is nice and very sturdy. It's overly priced, I say that because for this price your cage should come with No Issues... Even upon close inspection I noticed my cage has some bend wires that are wider in some spots - should not have any of these issues for this price ... just saying I like the color it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and has a more natural look Our baby rat seems to like it, she's about a month old and it appears to keep her in. She really enjoys running up and down the ramps I read somewhere the grate is bad for there feet so this cage does come with the grate and plastic pan. I just installed the pan and left the grate out and it fit perfectly without leaving any gap This is a decent size cage for any growing rat, we will be adding another companion soon!

Great cage for my daughter's four rats.
I purchased this cage to house my daughter's four rats. It provides lots of room for them to run around in, and there is still lots of space inside to place toys, bedding, two small litter pans, and a storage shelf underneath to store food, bedding and other supplies. Their is a pan underneath that catches food bits, litter pan bits, etc. that easily pulls out for cleaning regularly. We do place old blankets or sheets cut to fit down on the bottom as padding for their little feet and swap these out to wash regularly. The cage is on wheels so it is really easy to move around for vacuuming purposes. For a more thorough clean, two of us small ladies can easily pick the cage up and rest it in the bathtub for a good wash down by spraying it with our hand held removable shower head. The men in our house can lift it themselves. Prior to purchasing this cage, I noticed some people commented on the noise of the metal cage at night, but we haven't noticed that problem with rats using it. The rats make more noise running on their wheel at night than any noise from the cage itself. As for sturdiness, the cage appears to be well built and I am sure it will outlast the life of my daughter's rats. Overall, we are very happy with this cage and we would recommend it.

AWESOME cage for my three rat girls
This cage is awesome! I just put it together this evening and put my three rat girls in it and they LOVE it. It was pretty easy to assemble (and I messed up an IKEA drawer pretty badly so building stuff is not my speciality) and only took 15 minutes and did it by myself. The dust rose color of the metal is pretty and the front door is huge which is nice although there is no door on the top like it was advertised but the large door makes up for it. The tray on the bottom is easy to take out and has a little lock so it won't slip out. The all metal is awesome cause my girls are big chewers and it is well made. It is HUGE and all three seem comfortable in it. Just waiting on a wheel and little pod for them which will fit in there with room to spare! I highly recommend this cage- it is great and a great price!

My two degus are crazy happy!
Easiest cage I've ever put together--and that's saying something, considering my family of four has put together a pretty serious number of cages, what with having five ferrets, two guinea pigs, two finches, two degus, and numerous pet rats in just the past five years. I'd say this rivals or beats the double Ferret Nation for ease of assembly. I put it together myself (a 43-year-old woman with fibromyalgia and arthritis) in about 30 minutes, and with no swearing. :) All the parts lined up perfectly. There were two slightly bent wires that were very easily coaxed back into place, with no residual creases or waviness at all. The only tool it took was the included allen wrench, and there were only 12 screws to hold together the whole thing. Everything lined up well, the screws went in smoothly, and putting on the roof brought the whole thing together securely. We adopted our two degus last week, and the Humane Society was kind enough to let us bring home their cage while this was on order. Unfortunately, their cage was a 20-gallon long aquarium, with no cage topper to give them any expansion room to run. Poor little guys were used to having about two square feet to run in. It actually took longer for me to hook up the two wooden bridges, the hanging fuzzy cube, the two wooden shelves, the glass water bottle and the plastic locking food crock than it did to put together the cage. The 'goos watched with fascination the whole time. I was worried about whether there would be a large gap in the cage, since there was no way I was using the wire grate bottom, and was using the plastic pan as the cage bottom instead. In the previous Prevue cage I had, the Feisty Ferret (which just plain sucked in so many aspects), the plastic pan fit loosely and sagged, with little support from the side rails. There was a gap above the pan in that cage that a small animal would be able to slip through. So with that memory in mind, I cautiously slid the plastic pan into this cage, and...was delighted that Prevue got it right this time. The side rails are perfectly designed for the pan to replace the grate, instead of going into the slot below the grate like in my old Feisty Ferret. Basically, there are two side rails stacked on top of each other, and you either put the wire grate into the top one and the plastic pan in the groove right below it, or you leave out the wire grate and put the pan into that top rail groove--in the place of the wire grate. No gap, no sagging, perfect fit. So we gently transferred the boys over to the new cage about two hours ago, and they still haven't stopped exploring! They are jumping, running, leaping, chattering, and burbling with happiness. They love the room to run, and the ramps and shelves are ideal for them to run up and jump off (these little guy have no fear!) They've been jumping into the fuzzy cube and leaping out of the door down to the hanging bridge below the highest shelf, and zooming around like little wind-up toys. I'll update this review in a month or so after I've cleaned the cage several times and done some rearranging of the accessories, but my first impressions are 100% positive. I bought this cage with some trepidation due to previous reviews and my own experience with the crappy Feisty Ferret cage I used to own, but this cage is so much better. Incidentally, everyone else who mentioned that there's no access door on the top is absolutely right. Just the wide, large front door, no other door on the cage. They should update this listing to remove the picture and the mention of the top access door. (From having used such a door with the crappy Feisty Ferret cage, I can say that it probably is no loss anyway.)

Fantastic home for three adult rats!
Durable, attractive finish, easy to assemble, easy to move around, easy to clean (an essential for my 7 and 10 year old daughters!). It's all metal, so our rats can't chew a hole anywhere to escape. We set the black plastic pan on top of the metal mesh to solve the problem of hurting our rats' feet, and that works like a charm. We just have to be careful in how we remove the plastic tray to clean it. Because it is shallow, we also put a plexiglass "baseboard" around the bottom of the cage to help hold in the paper bedding. That works well too. It's plenty large for our three adult female rats; they love running up and down the ramps, and there is room at the bottom for their "igloo" house, a hidey box, and a corner litter box. After trying two other cages, this one is by far the winner!

this is a good cage for a chinchilla
For the most part, this is a good cage for a chinchilla. There's plenty of room for extras, such as an exercise wheel and private hutch. The shelf underneath is handy, but does not have enough clearance for a lot of the items you might want to keep on hand. Having another 2-3 inches would have been more practical. The cage is fairly sturdy. The quality of the workmanship is questionable. Several of the wires are bent and the extended wires connecting the sides with the holes in the base didn't line up, so parts of the sides are somewhat bowed out. The pull-out plastic tray at the bottom is a good feature, however, it is bent, so that it does not slide out easily. There is no locking mechanism on the wheels, so when you are pulling on the tray, you have to use your body to keep the cage from moving, while using a tool (I used a flathead screwdriver) to push down on the middle of the tray, while pulling out the tray with my free hand.
