Toradora! (Manga) Vol. 1

A Manga worth reading
This is one of the best overall Manga series you could recommend to another person. The characters are great and they develop very well and deeply as the series progresses. It is a great manga due to how you can relate and remember the first time you went through what the characters do. The art is fantastic and the writing is really solid. While dealing with a straightforward but deepening romantic plot it keeps great comedic timing. It truly is a great manga to read, not due to fan service, but incredibly understandable and relatable characters. You really could recommend this series for almost anyone and not have it disappoint. While I personally do not see anything wrong with this being a 7 and up manga myself I would recommend any potential parental units to read the manga first to make sure it meets the standards you have for your children. Hope this helps and enjoy one of the best romantic comedy series that was been made.

Toradora, the manga adaption
For those of you who do not know, Toradora is based off of the light novel which has 10 volumes in Japan. Now onto the actual review. The story of Toradora kicks off as Ryuuji is doing his daily routine of being the "wife of the house" with cleaning, preparing breakfast for his mother etc... And him going to school where everyone is scared of him only because his eyes look like one of a thugs. But in reality Ryuuji is actually kind, so this caused him much trouble in his past and present. And at school he meets another easily misunderstood character Taiga (aka Palm-top tiger due to her short stature)when he mistakenly bumps into her provoking her to punch him and later to find that he is her next door neighbor. From there on it's a school-life/romantic comedy that depicts the days of Ryuuji, Taiga and their friends having fun. Now onto the presentation of the manga, the art is good and it reflects that this is a heart-warming manga. The characters are well-thought out and they are people you can relate to especially if your a high school student and believe there will be character development throughout the series. The manga adaption also follows the anime adaption quite well with not much difference or any at all from what I have seen. So if you enjoyed the anime, this manga should be down your alley as well.Story: 9Character: 10Art: 9AVG: 9.3

A love comedy as it's meant to be
I watched the Toradora anime some years ago and I decided to buy the manga volumes and experience it again in a different way. I've read three volumes and so far I'm loving it.This is a love story. A romantic comedy which excels at both fields. Characters are interesting and finely detailed. The story moves at a nice pace and it can be both hilarious and heart warming. It has little fan-service, instead focusing on character development. The jokes are good and you almost don't need previous knowledge on japanese culture to enjoy them. Overall if you like the genre you will love this. This manga adaptation follows the same story as the anime (at least as much as I've read) and the books are very light in extras. Besides the chapters you might find an extra small chapter, some translation notes and an extract of a chapter of another manga. If you have already seen the anime you are probably not missing a lot from this.If you have not seen the anime or if you are just a great fan of Toradora, you should definitely get these. Even if you hate the romantic comedy genre, you should give Toradora a try.

Already watched the anime, loved it
I already watched the anime a couple years ago, so now I finally read the manga, and I have to say - it's great. The illustrations are expressive and fun, and the story is really funny. The story seems really emotional and compelling so it remains interesting throughout the entire first volume at least. Some parts are just a little bit ecchi (inappropriate), but it never detracts from any of the teen-audience romantic comedy feel. There's also a little more foul language than in other series I've read, but again, nothing so offensive that it would have to be rated for adults. As far as linguistics and things go, I'm really glad the publisher kept the original Japanese name order. For me it keeps going from the anime to the manga less confusing, unlike the the manga from Viz Media. At the end of the book there are also a couple pages dedicated to Japanese honorifics and translation notes, which is helpful for understanding how the characters relate to each other.I think if I hadn't already watched it I would have had more fun seeing how the story unfolds, but it's still my favorite anime/manga series. And since the illustrations are so good, I think they could be used as a reference for other aspiring manga artists, so this is a definite recommendation!

Toradora! One of the Best Romantic Comedies
Ryuuji Takasu is a second year student with a gentle demeanor but a perpetual glare giving him the appearance of a school rebel. Despite his best attempts he cannot change his looks and as a result all but gives up on having a girlfriend even when he ends up sitting right near his crush, Minori Kushieda.Taiga Aisaka lives alone in a large apartment. She is short of stature and short of temper which earns her the nickname "Palm Top Tiger." For many reasons dealing with her family life and how others view her, Taiga has developed a negative view of the world and doesn't hesitate to lash out when people annoy her.On the first day of school, fate brings the two together as Ryuuji bumps into the short Taiga and through a series of twists and it turns out they discover that Taiga's crush is Ryuuji's best friend,Yuusaku Kitamura, and Ryuuji's crush, Minori Kushieda, is Taiga's close friend.Further discovering that they are neighbors, Ryuuji and Taiga decide to help each other with their crushes, but Taiga, realizing Ryuuji would do anything to be close to Minori, takes full advantage and begins to turn him into her personal servant. These series of events start one of my favorite and one of the funniest romance comedies currently in print. Toradora! is truly worth the read for fans of the light novel, fans of the anime and newcomers to this wonderful series.

Don't judge based on the cover this is great!!
Good start to the series including subtle additional details compared to the Japanese series. Note the anime series of Toradora! is only in Japanese and offers English dubbed so this is a great offer for those who can't be bother with watching anime subbed. Pricing varies allot I mean I got one new for like around £1! So keep an eye on the price and grab yourself a great deal!

Hilariously Excellent!
Both, those unfamiliar with Toradora! and fans of the anime, won't be disappointed. Unexpectedly addictive and customer-critically-acclaimed (see Amazon.com (US) reviews), Toradora! is a great romantic comedy. But due to its well-rounded enjoyability, it could be read by a much larger audience (indeed, more so than the anime).Zekkyo's art supplements the dialogue superbly well and accentuates the hilarity of the characters and story on every single page. The premise that surprisingly puts main characters Ryuuji at the knees of Taiga creates a hilarious, but solid foundation for the rest of the story. Characters are dynamic and interfaceable, the plot is solid and progressive, and the art is great. If you read manga, you should try Toradora!.
