Thank you Barb Doyon!!!
As an aspiring screenwriter I am still learning a lot. If writing a movie was easy, EVERYONE would do it. So, my advice to anyone who wants to write one or is working on one, do your homework. Reading books is one of the best things you can do starting out. A couple of my friends who also write, recommended some top screenwriting books that are “supposingly” the “must have” books every screenwriter should have. I purchased Save the Cat, Screenwriting Bible, and Screenplay. I read them and even though I learned a good amount after reading those books; I feel like I learned a lot more in Extreme Screenwriting alone. Everything was easier to absorb reading Barb Doyon’s book and I just simply found it a better read. My goal was to read ten pages at a time everytime I read it, but that never happened. I always ended up reading more. I got so engaged in the book and Barb is very straight forward and knows her stuff. I don’t care if you never heard her name, you better not under estimate her. This book SHOULD BE a “must have” book for every screenwriter. After reading it I was very confused why this book doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Barb covers everything you need to know from beginning to end. If any writer asks me “Do you know any good screenwriting books?” , the first book I will mention is Extreme Screenwriting. I am not blowing smoke up anybody’s a**. This book is 100% worth buying. Thanks Barb for writing this book.

One of the best books for every screenwriter!
I love a screenwriting book that is written by an experienced working screenwriter/producer, because the writer has seen and done it all inside and out. That's why this is in my top 3 screenwriting books of all time. I have purchased way too many screenwriting books over the years just to find out that they're no better than all the other previous books that I own. And if you're like me, I've wasted a lot of time and money on books that I'll read only once and never pick it up again. If you want a book that covers EVERY SUBJECT of screenwriting (plus, gives you great tricks of the trade in all aspects) then this is the book that will be your "go to" book. It sure is mine! From how to write in different genres (because each one has their own characteristics) like Thriller, Horror, Suspense, Romcon, Crime, and Comedy, to how to add conflict in every scene, how to create three decisional characters, writing realistic dialogue, to formatting, marketing, getting an agent and manager to inside information that every screenwriter should know. It truly is a complete book on screenwriting. Simple and easy to understand and tools that you can actually use! This book is chock full of great, solid information in today's ever changing world of screenwriting. All I can say is... buy it! You won't regret it!

This lady knows her stuff...
I thought that the book would be the run of the mill screenwriting techniques that I'd encountered in other books. No. It was cutting edge up to the minute stuff. Everything from the latest formatting techniques to putting together cutting edge log lines. The only reason I even knew about this book is because of the dynamic newsletter that she puts out every month. I've used her coverage services as well as read the book from cover to cover. I'm about to take the time to read it again and I enjoyed it so much that I bought my screenwriting brother a copy for his birthday. Needless to say, this lady knows her stuff and she can put it in 'down to earth' terminology for the every man. Look you could waste your money on those books that regurgitate old info or you can buy a book by a working writer/producer in the industry- selling stuff today. The choice is yours. But I'm going to get the TV book when it comes out.

Best screenwriting book.
I've been an aspiring screenwriter for about five years. I've read several books, attended writing conferences in LA, Austin film festival etc. I wish I had read this book five years ago. It would have saved me a lot of heartache.. Easier to understand then "Save the Cat" type books.. I've learned more from this $10 book than I did at any expensive class in LA. All you need if starting out is The Screenwriters Bible, this book and Final Draft. Happy writing.

A Must Have Book !
Anyone who ever had the yearning of becoming a screenwriter, like myself, must have this book in their library. The day it arrived at my door, I began to read it and finished that evening. Being an aspiring screenwriter for several years, I learned things in Barb's book that I never knew before. She makes things look so easy. I highly recommend this author and this book for anyone seeking their aspiration of becoming a screenwriter. I know I'll be referring to it again and again as I write.

By far, the best screenwriting guide out there
Extreme Screenwriting is a step by step guide to writing your best work. Packed with not just valuable information on the screenwriting process, it also helps you in marketing your script after you've finished. I have read numerous screenwriting books before, but Extreme Screenwriting put the character arc and structure in such an easy and understandable way, without convoluted language and esoteric themes. Just plain good writing that makes your job as a screenwriter clear and concise.

Great book!
The book is very easy to understand and Barb gives good advice on screenwriting. It was especially helpful understanding her comments on a script she recently analyzed for me.

THE ONE AND ONLY BOOK YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE A SCRIPT SALE
I am a screenwriter who has read every single book on the craft available. If, like me, you have written a number of scripts and these have been Finalists in numerous international competitions and you don't understand why you can't make your first sale then this is the book for you. Do not buy any other book or send your script out for analysis until you have read this book. Save your money. Barb doesn't pull any punches and if her advice disheartens you then you shouldn't be writing scripts in the first place. If you want a career as a scriptwriter then put aside your ego and take on board all her advice. I cannot stress how this book has changed my whole outlook on writing scripts. If you don't have an agent, no contacts, no idea how to succeed in this business then read this book and all your dreams will come true. Read it with an open heart. Without judgement and follow her advice. Because I used to be one of the fools she talks about and since I took on board her advice I am well on my way to my first script sale. Also.
