The Seven Joys of Mary

The fourth Joy of Mary
Romanus Cessario has created a rich and original spiritual work of art. He has taken Seven Joys of Mary from Conrad Haimbourg's hymn(1360), "The Joys of the Blessed Virgin Mary," and has illustrated them with the painting of Hans Memling (1430-1494), Seven Joys of Mary. The Mariology of Romanus is very contemporary. Mary is explained as the first disciple and model of faith for all believers. The fourth Joy of Mary, the appearance of the risen Christ to His mother is the foundation and source of Mary's joy.Perhaps with the emphasis Pope Francis gives the joy of faith, a reader could find in "The Seven Joys of Mary" an experience of the joy of faith.

Serious read
I bought this book to use during May as it is Mary's month. Have read the other titles in this format (The Seven Sorrows of Jesus, The Seven Last Words of Jesus) and found them to be helpful in prayer.

A Favorite Devotion
This is a great book for deepening our contemplations on Our Blessed Mother's Sorrows. I give it 4 stars, only because much of the artwork is very small.
