Excellent Donner P Bass
Purchased Bass as I am guitarist but fancied a go on 4 strings. Firstly I generally check reviews before purchasing and seeing a few positive reviews on YouTube I thought I would give this brand a try and I am quite shocked at how well this bass plays plus the extras you get. Firstly the bass is a nice weight not too heavy but not too light. Body has a deep sunburst finish which has been applied well. Maple neck with a wood similar to rosewood used for the fret board. Frets have been well dressed no buzzing or dead spots and fret ends have been nicely rounded off. Action was a little high but after lowering to my taste I had a play. I was impressed with the nice punchy tone this bass produces and how well it plays. The tone knob rolls off treble evenly which is nice to hear, usually on budget guitars you only have to touch the tone and the treble is gone in an instant. Nice quality gig bag which feels sturdy enough to protect the bass out and about and a decent jack lead and strap as well. I would honestly say I would be happy to gig with this bass. I would highly recommend this for a beginner or intermediate player really exceptional value and with a bit of a set up plays as good as any bass costing treble what this cost.

More than a beginner needs
When you fancy learning a new instrument you tend to go for a cheap and cheerful option so you don't overspend only to find out it's not for you. Problem with that is that you'll end up with an instrument so bad that you will deffinetely hate it and never look at it again. I bit the bullet trying this cheap Donner as I had great value stuff from there before. Turns out it was the right choice! Features: - Built like a tank, no flimsiness, looks absolutely gorgeous in Sunburst. Mine has a couple of small knots for character. I like seeing a nice honest piece of wood in my instruments. - Tuning pegs are solid, no pitch loss. These are high quality, no compromise - Nice cut nut, no tagging there, strings slide smoothly - Speaking of strings, they do the job, but you will probably want to put your favourites on - Sounds great and plays great once you adjust the truss to your liking. For a guitarrist (manly) like myself, a nice low soft action is very important before growing some strength to handle a bass - Comes with cable, strap and bag. All you need. Would have liked: - A truss rod key. It is standard size but I still strugglle to find one in my tool box as I'm very disorganised. Overall, I really don't know how they can sell an instrument at this quality and make a profit. This is more than a beginner's instrument. Mine's up in its hook on wall ready to use in hiome recordings. Love it!

Beginners guitar
Got mine nearly new for £40 off the listed price via amazon warehouse. Still struggling to overcome the beginners fret but despite changing strings. Nice piece of kit otherwise.

Perfect Out-of-the-box Beginner Bass - Video Included
You'll often here of people buying a lower priced instrument and saying something along the lines of: "It's perfect. I've just changed the strings, neck, pickups and electronics... bargain!" I've never really understood this ethos as I believe an instrument should be perfectly playable right out of the box, no matter the price range. Thankfully this Donner Bass delivers exactly what you would want and expect. The initial set up was great for my needs. As you can see in the video it's slinky enough to slap & pop, while allowing you to get a grittier - more attack driven - sound when playing with a pick. This is ideal for a beginner in my opinion as it means you won't need to tweak the neck/string height in order to try out different styles of play. The neck is a good width. It's on the thinner side which is ideal for people without monster-sized hands and allows easy access to all frets. The finish feels nice and woody under hand - which can be down to preference as some may prefer a more lacquered finish - which is fine by me. It's a standard size and weight for most precision style bass guitars. For those who haven't held a bass know, it's heavier and more solid than a guitar. This is still far lighter than a number of Epiphone's I've played in the past and is very comparable to that of my Fender Precision Bass. The finish on this instrument is top notch! I personally went for the sunburst and can honestly say that it doesn't look out of place stood next to my Fenders. I purchased this as a teaching tool to get my Dad started on bass and also to potentially use once gigs start up again. Lugging an expensive Fender to certain pub venues has never sat well with me and having something in the price range to travel local with is definitely more comforting. Yes, I can get gig ready tones I'm happy with from this bass when running into my amp/pedal set up. It has a similar sound to bass's of this price range. I recommend boosting the 'MIDS' control on your amp to really help round/fill out the sound. With everything even on the amp this bass sits more in the Low-Mid/Bass territory, which is fine but may get a little muddy in full band situations. Boosting the MIDS on an amp should help that and settle you more into the full band mix. Great bedroom axe/learning tool/worry free gig instrument. Helpful extras like the gig bag/strap/etc. are always welcome and really help you save a few £ when getting everything you need at the start. Highly recommended & hope the attached video gives you a better idea than my write up ever could. Happy slapping!

Superb guitar.
Great value for money, and very well finished etc. Quite a chunk too, you know you have a beast around your neck. I replaced the factory strings with some Rotosounds, and it really sounds great too. Gigged it 6 times since purchase, no issues.

Ridiculous value
The P-Style bass plays great compared with an original which costs 3 times as much. Got this one for Christmas and been playing almost every day since.

Fantastic VFM
This is a mighty bit of kit for the money. The value you get is fantastic. I have a £50 Donner Uke , it’s my favourite. Just love Donner kit. Buy it!

Far far better than expected. Good sound and construction. Better than some high end basses.

I was so happy to receive such a quality guitar, as I wasn’t familiar with this brand, and I have been through a lot of guitars over my 28 years of playing, lead 6 string guitars and Bass. The weight of it was surprisingly decent, as other reviews stated it felt heavier than most, but I’m quite comfortable with the weight, the fit and finish was flawless, action was great right out of the box, but might need a tweak to get it just right. Came with a nice strap, Allen keys and soft case. This was a straight up no frills great deal on a very nice bass I’d compare to a similarly priced Fender I’ve had in the past. Guitar was packaged very well, including fret foam to protect the neck and strings, as well as the satisfying peeling of the pick guard plastic wrap. Sound was as expected, nothing crazy just gets the job done. Guitar came fast and earlier than it was supposed too, extremely happy all around!!

Approvato.
