Budget AKG studio monitor : Best tuned for female vocals/ classical
About myself: ======START OF INTRODUCTION ====== Audio equipment reviewer over 20year+ of experience in headphones/earphones/IEM/DAP, initially motivated by Sennheiser/AKG. After spending a decade with full-size headphones, home audio speakers, I shifted my main listening environment to IEM (100+ personal inventories ). On mobile, I havingLexus’s Mark Levision system, and moved to Mercedes AMG’s Burmester 3D System. I have been a member & reviewer at headfi.org —one of the most diversified international audio equipment enthusiast community— since 2008, have 100+ IEMs/50+ full size cans/numerous DAPs. Currently enjoying 7Hz Timeless, Softears RSV, Moondrop’s Blessing 2, Blessing 2 dusk, Variations, Aria, Kato, as well as many other current market gatekeepers such as qdc anole VX ($2900USD), UM MEST MKII ($1,600), Thieaudio Monarch ($760), DUNU SA6 ($560), besides rather old-school Sennheiser/ Shure/ Westone/Sony/AudioTechnica/AKG/Etymotic Researchms IEMs (these established consumer manufacturers are no longer making competitive cost-to-performance IEMs at current market of 2022, except very selective few ones from Sony). No bleeding into mids. -8k peak brings good sparkles, yet not too fatiguing, very nicely tuned from a single BA! -Needs some power to drive compared to similar 1BA+1DD type hybrids -Coherence / linear phasing: TBD needs some time Old pre Oct 2020 model (“4k model” vs New Post-Oct 2020 model: KB LARK new model after 12 hours of burn-in: -mellower thus softer tone, sound injection is more direct than old 4k version -may work for someone who found former lark to be too edgy, it’s 4khz peak is nerfed and the tone is very welcoming, again a surprise from KBEAR after Tri Starsea. They got skills to fine-tune IEMs, even if it’s sub$30 model, it sounds very premium, not a typical Bellsing grainy tone. Piano sounds flawless. Out of box impression vs original Lark was not that impressive, but now even after 12 hours of burn-in, thing changed. Muddy bass is gone and thus soft and warm yet very detail retrieving neutral tuning come to alive, some coloring in mid range, a very very soft veiling, I’d say it reminds me of mid range of Moondrop blessing2’s tuning. vs old Lark: -old Lark has 3-4khz peak which works for critical listening for detail retrieval for upper-mid, lower-treble, but in a long run it may cause some exhaustion, new Lark nerfed 4khz, remained 3khz peak, which relieved exhaustion factor yet some technical listeners may find lack of definition (studio monitor vs easy listening) Afterall, this is very recommendable to someone looking for neutral and gentle fine-tuned budget option! Low Gain mode is recommended, this thing explodes with most of amp’s high gain and lose its delicacy. used stock tip & cable, everything works just fine. which version is your lark? 4k old version(pre Oct 2020) -has no yellow thing around acoustic white filter -BA is located on the edge of nozzle New version (post Oct 2020) -has yellow thing (manufacturer’s mod to nerf 4khz) on the acoustic filter -BA is located at the center of the nozzle VS CCA CSN -CSN is on warmer and slightly tamed W-shape tuning, wider sound stage -Lark is more on detail retrieval focus compared to CSN -CSN/DQ6's XUN driver seemed is a better-textured bass range driver there, although Lark bass driver needs a burn-in Note: -The W shape tonality reminds me of UM MEST MkII, although MEST MKII gets its third peak around 6k, vs Lark 8k, I may refer Lark as a grandson of MEST MKII less sound stage. Both good at fun and energetic music reproduction. -Good at Rock with vocals / Percussions / any upbeat music that does not require sound stage / Jazz trio -If you like beyerdynamic headphones this one pretty much would fit your flavor, pretty Dry x Fast x Clean x Energetic! [Not For] bassheads and/or bassists, baritone oriented players, for those CCA CSN does better on bass line in terms of quantity [For] Vocalists, Percussioninst Lark pretty much plays my favorite Yorushika song at top tier among all of my 100+ IEM collections which includes many contenders, that’s quite a statement!

I'm honestly impressed!!
I'm actually impressed! I didn't think I would be... but here I sit, impressed and thankful I found something so good at such an affordable pricepoint!! These "ears" have a nice, flat response (exactly what you need when purchasing in-ear monitors). They have the punch you’ll need to allow you to hear your performance over your mains. And, they aren't active noise canceling, but they just naturally block out most all of the ambient noise - leaving you with crisp, clean monitors to understand exactly how you sound to the audience. And at this price? You just cannot go wrong.

Good design, passible sound
The KS2s are light and snug due to the shape of their smooth plastic housing, but the way they sound is just ok. Out of the box, they have a far too v-shaped sound profile. The bass feels more present than it should and the top end felt jarring while listening to certain songs. I had to mess around with my equalizer for a while in order to get them to sound good. I really can't complain much because these are only around 20 bucks after all, and even their ok sound has surpassed most headphones in their price range. I'm giving it four stars because of their value and comfort.

THE BEST
just do yourself a favor and get these , i’ve had these for about 2 YEARS now . The sound quality is amazing +the comfort they bring on your ear. If you work often on a PC/Laptop just get them. I think the cable is starting to fail but thats kinda my fault im clumsy w my hands😂 definitely gonna repurchase

Not Bad, but not the best for the price!
My advice is to try the KS1 of the same brand. They fit like a glove in the ears, and the sound is detailed with a powerful bass that doesn't shadow the other frequencies.

Incredible IEM's.
vocals are present and intimate. Highs are sparkly, clear and detailed. These are an absolute steal for the money and worth every penny (and then some). They look sharp and are built extremely nice. Fit well and are very comfortable. The cable is decent but I immidiately upgraded. The cable is probably the only thing in this package that is equivalent to the price tag but it still gets the job done. I also replaced the silicone tips with some memory foam ones to help with a better seal and comfort which I with highly suggest you do as well. Buy these though.

Loose parts and a dirty, dirty replacement.
Received my first pair, and one of the earbuds had loose parts inside. Rattling inside your ear at most volumes. I requested a replacement pair and the second pair I received were clearly used and dirty! Returning both pairs. I will try something and someone else. Shame because they are fairly comfortable for me and sounded okay.

These sound fantastic using a dac on my pc! Great imaging and most importantly for me, minimal sibilance, even when cranked, high frequencies don't chop my ears off. Incredible considering the price.

Ottimo rapporto prezzo/qualità secondo me...

These IEMs sound great for the price, fit well, and are overall a great buy. Probably one of the best ~$20 chi-fi sets you can buy, along with KZ ZSNs and a few others. These fit better than the ZSNs, as they are better shaped to an actual human ear, instead of some odd sharp angle. I’d describe the soundstage as wide enough, and a slight V shape, with more pronounced bass than treble. Packaging was great, with little waste and proper presentation. The supplied cable seems better built and thought out than other chi-fi sets, as the area where the cable forks is built sturdier, and shouldn’t bend and break like other KZ sets. I do have a couple cons to take note of: The area where the ear hooks make contact to the actual IEMs seems rather poorly enforced, on both buds the points of contact creak when minor force is applied inwards or outwards by hand. This does not affect the listening experience whatsoever. On the 3.5mm connector, my unit came out of the box with a minor chip in the metal. This doesn’t change the performance of the unit in any way, but it does leave a bad impression. Other than that, this is a solid IEM I’d recommend.
