I LOVE THE NAIL WHALE!
Yay! My Nail Whale arrived today just in time to test it out, as my son was due for a clipping. I ordered this particular set of clippers for 2 reasons: I am tired of cleaning up nail clippings from around the house, and I am tired of wrestling my son to the ground while trying to cut his nails. I am happy to report that this product worked amazingly on both accounts. The Nail Whale eats all the nail clippings, so no more vacuuming or picking up stray clipping from the carpet (or finding them days later on the other side of the room!) My 2 year old son was also in awe of the cute little whale and sat while I clipped his nails. Amazing!! No more holding him down to clip his nails....I actually managed to cut each and every nail in one sitting! This was well worth the investment and I am so glad I purchased these. Also, somehow it is easier to clip his nails with these, as there is a safety ridge and it makes it impossible to cut too close to the nail. 3 Cheers for the Whale Nail!! So glad I discovered these clippers!

Good Idea, Bad Design, or Lack of Quality Control
These clippers are cute, but not very functional. I love the idea of a magnifying glass for clipping tiny baby nails. But the whale body obscures your view to the degree that we found these clippers non-functional. The photo on Amazon doesn't represent the clippers we received. The whales tail on our clippers extend beyond the clippers.

Whale is too big and bulky for kids fingers, it doesn't collect anymore after a few uses
At first, these did what they were supposed to do and caught the clippings perfectly. I'm not sure what happened to them when they were lying on the shelf where we store this but now they don't collect clippings anymore. The clippings go all over the place and never into the container. The cutting part that clips the nails also seems to have been pushed back a bit into the whale's body so I can't really easily see what I'm clipping anymore, and I'm very nervous about possibly clipping a finger by accident. It almost looks like the whale slipped and the whale's tail is farther out than it should be, but I can't fix it. I have to throw these out, they just aren't good for cutting my son's nails anymore. I also realized just how bulky this whale is - it is constantly hiding part of my fingers or his fingers, due to its size and the fact that my toddler is wiggly and doesn't like holding still for this. I'd rather have an open nail clipper that I can see exactly what is happening and no part of the device covers or obscures the finger or nail.

Works decently
Its a fun looking product that works decently. The main issues I have are that the whale covers too much of the clippers and gets in my view of baby's nails sometimes. I like to keep a good focus on my baby's nails when I'm cutting them to make sure I don't get too close and sometimes I find myself adjusting the nail clipper because the whale plastic is blocking my view. Also I never use the magnifying glass, its just not good enough quality to use, and really just adds unnecessary bulk to the product.

I was looking for a good quality set
After my Safety First pair of infant nail clippers literally exploded in my hand while trying to trim nails, I was looking for a good quality set. These are a bit pricey, but do a great job of catching nail trimmings and is super cute! My baby's nails are rounded off nicely after cutting and do not require filing even though the set comes with a file. It takes a bit to figure out how to feed the nail into the front for clipping, but I think this is advant because it also makes it even harder to cut the nail too short. Great follow up from the company after purchase! I would recommend these.

A must-have for Fussy Toddlers
My 18 month old has hated nail clipping time since she turned 1. I had resorted to cutting her nails when she fell asleep during car rides because she would fuss any other time I tried. This was obviously not ideal since I had to keep track of random clippings and was not very ergonomic from my perspective. I saw the positive reviews for this product and decided to give it a try. Worked like a charm. Not sure if it is because she is distracted by the whale, but she at least will still down and let me clip her nails. And the capture mechanism makes it much faster and easier for me since I don't have to worry about where the clippings end up. So glad I bought this!

Do not buy this
Do not buy this. First time I used it my son was about 2 months old. I cut a small piece of his skin with it and he screamed like crazy. It bled. It was terrible. I didn't touch it again until over a year later after i lost the other clipper that worked fine. Figured hey, i was a new mom then, been cutting his nails a year now - i got this. WRONG! used it two more times and almost cut his skin twice. I didn't because I'm much more careful due to the infant incident. I'm telling you, the way this thing is made is not safe. It's the little part that is underneath the clipper part (see image and it's what my finger is touching on) that is the issue because you can't tell if you have all nail or if there's skin in it. They are advertising like that is the safe part but trust me it isn't. Buy one that has nothing underneath the clipper- no magnifying glass, no base (or whatever that part is called), that way you can see very clearly. This stinks. I'm literally throwing it away after i finish writing this.

Perfect for my 3 weeks old baby
Perfect for my 3 weeks old baby. I was very nervous about clipping my newborn baby's tiny finger/toenails, but after first few, it became easier to clip. I don't really use the magnifying glass since I have 20/20 vision, but it maybe be useful for my husband. The design is really cute and I do like how the nails are collected inside the whale.
