The Genuine BMW Gasket is NOT Better Than This One!
This gasket from URO, is just as good as the Genuine BMW gasket. Note that the design of the BMW oil filter housing means that this flimsy rubber gasket is all that separates the oil from the coolant inside the engine. I have replaced the "Genuine BMW" gasket twice, spending hundreds of dollars and countless days repairing the collateral damage when it failed. Getting oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil can be catastrophic. The extensive and expensive damage, and the amount of time required to fix these problems, is insane. The BMW engineers who designed this oil filter housing with its flimsy rubber gasket should be fired! I will NEVER again pay top dollar for "Genuine BMW" parts that do not perform any better than aftermarket parts at a fraction of the cost. These gaskets have to deal with constant temperature and pressure cycling, with oil on one side and coolant on the other, so they need every bit of help to extend their life. Here's what works best...Replace both rubber gaskets on the oil filter housing at the same time. Use solvents to remove oil and other deposits from the mating surfaces on the cylinder head and filter housing. Acetone is the best residue-free solvent for oil and grease. Then tightly stuff the oil and coolant channels in the head with paper towels and lightly scrub the flat mating surfaces with a fine abrasive pot-scouring pad to remove stubborn deposits and discoloration that can compromise the seal later. Thoroughly wash out the filter housing with degreaser and hot, soapy water. Use acetone and paper towels to remove every trace of oil and impurities from all mating surfaces and wipe dry. Use Permatex High Torque Optimum Grey to lightly coat the entire gasket and all mating surfaces. Install the gasket in its groove, wipe away any excess, then assemble the parts and torque progressively in a sequential pattern. The Permatex datasheet states that this can be used as a gasket dressing, which should be torqued to spec immediately. This greatly extends the life of the gasket and the seal. Wait at least 24 hours before adding fluids. Once set, it resists chemicals way better than Permatex rubber gasket dressing does.It is wise to replace both of the oil-line o-rings at the same time, be ause they start leaking too. Use clean oil to dress these o-rings.

Great quality, identical to OEM.
2011 BMW 335i xDrive N55I just did this gasket 9 months ago, or 3K miles ago. I went to the BMW dealer right down the road and bought it and installed it that day. But over the last month oil was pooling up (second pic) so I decided to redo it with a different manufacturer. In the process I did an oil change, again, and swapped out the oil filter cap for URO’s aluminum cap. Well, the oil leak isn’t happening anymore and the aluminum cap looks nice to me. Glad I found URO as a reputable dealer and brand based off of reviews.Gaskets look identical to OEM and fit just the same. Can’t really talk about longevity since I installed this last week, but the oil leak stopped so that’s already an improvement. (I do all my own labor, and this is a very easy and quick job, but oil will get messy).

Worked but I hate how this part is always faulty Nd expensive to fix
I've had this part not this exact company but the part itself fail twice the first time it cost me 2000 dollars in damages ripped serpetine belt and shot into the oil pan had to drop transmission to get peces out 2012 535i the 2nd time mixed water and coolant together so now the engine is pretty jacked to say the least

Perfect fit for my 2010 X3.
Perfect fit. I had been chasing down the cause of the slight water leak ever since I bought the car new. Dealer was absolutely incompetent or just plain lazy. Seems that the factory installed part was serrated on the bottom and that was what caused the slow leak. I noticed it when I went to service the belt and noticed that it was wet which also happened to be just below the oil cooler unit (uses coolant for the heat transfer).
