The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Good Movie

Don't look for an indepth, 5 paragraph review about things most people don't really want to know right away. If you like superheroes and science fiction, you'll probably like this too. What an awesome movie, based on comics and books of the same name or original name of League Of Gentlemen. If you're not enticed by the synopsis and looking at reviews then the production quality is good and flows well in my opinion. You really get exposed to each individual character and understand how they all play their part to create LXG and complete their mission. I was engaged in the movie the entire time and was exciting to watch. At first, it seemed slow but I believe that was because, in part, the time the movie takes place, 1899. Although this movie was deemed a failure, I believe it was ahead of it's time, when the superheroes were much more modern and action packed, LXG seemed dull and old fashion. I loved it. I also believe this was Sean Connery's last movie before he retired, which he retired because of the stress he faced with LXG production staff. Don't forget, Sean also turned down big roles in LOTR, Harry Potter, Matrix and Indiana Jones because of his experience on the LXG set, so that kinda adds to it for me.

Enjoyable with all the fictional characters

Being a fan of the graphic novels I was not really eager to watch this film, scared about how badly they would wreck it. But in the end it was a delight. I enjoyed how they brought in each character, how they set up the plot, how they carefully set up the foundation to make it easy to move right into the action and adventure of the latter parts of the film.I wish they had kept some of the deleted scenes in the film, because some of them were important, linking one scene to another, but in the end the film was a good one. The extras in the DVD, from the behind-the-scenes documentary and audio commentaries, really add to the DVD.Something to add to your DVD library if you are a fan of the old novels, with such super-stars like the great white hunter, Allan Quatermain, the sub captain, Captain Nemo, and that great scientist, Dr. Henry Jekyll.If you enjoyed this movie, remember that the graphic novels are available. The movie is based on the first volume, but there are TWO out at the time of this review. Great books.Evil thugs, explosions and lots of dark city streets that all look alike. Have fun!

Excellent movie. Great story and great cast.

This one should be worn out I’ve watched it so much. But it’s still like new.
