A nice, readable, rugged watch - accurate for its price
Even though I work in tech, I still like an old-fashioned mechanical watch. I think this watch is attractive in its simplicity - it is easily readable and it is not busy - it is not "too much" to look at. It is not too large in circumference. It is a little thicker than I prefer but still not too bad. This watch has more of an old-fashioned, rounded look to it that I like. Maybe it is how the lugs are configured? This watch is more accurate than some mechanical watches I have that I paid twice as much for. I found with my particular watch that it runs a few seconds a day slow when I wear it but it runs a few seconds fast if I leave it face-down overnight - it seems to balance out so overall I can go a surprising number of days - I think a week or more - before I feel like I want to reset it. And it has a "hacking" feature so it is easy to set to the second. The watch seems rugged. I have gotten conflicting info on whether the crystal is sapphire or glass so I don't know. I have worn it daily and I have not noticed any scratches. But my normal adventures are trips to the office or the grocery store and not, say, rock climbing. The lumen is adequate but not spectacular. This is one of the best options you will find if you are looking for a simple, inexpensive but well-made mechanical field watch.

Sweeping second hand. Great quality
Bought this for my Dad’s 80th birthday. I was impressed as I was worried. Very nice quality and the second hand sweeps. That was a very nice surprise. The image on the back is very nice and the band is comfortable. It’s not a large face and the simplicity of use is perfect for him.

Nice Watch. Currently Averaging Sub 1 Second per Day Variation.
Fantastic. After about a week of wear, it's consistently running about 0.25 seconds per hour fast. Or about three minutes a month. I hack it every morning to NIST, but it's nice to know the movement is so well regulated. I plan to have it a long, long time. Edit: We have settled in. She had been gaining 6 seconds per day, but a month and a half after the above review, she's averaging 0.75 seconds per day of gain. Wildly impressive for an automatic, let alone one in this price bracket. I mean, it's out performing watches that cost 10 to 100 times more. Will update if accuracy suffers. Or somehow improves. There's really not much more room for it to get better, but we'll see I've stopped re hacking each morning, instead, I rehack with a few seconds lag vs nist and will re hack when I've a few seconds gain vs nist. I wear it all day, no scratches or damage yet (Knock on wood). I take it off to sleep and have it rest Crown Up overnight. The approximate 15 hours of wear each day keeps it plenty topped off - I don't have to manually wind at all. I notice a lot of people looking at it. Looks great on a plain nato strap.

Worth the money!
I was in the market for an automatic watch and decided to get this one. I'm very impressed. The strap didn't fit my small wrist so I swapped that out and everything else is good so far. Very accurate, it hacks as the name implies. I love that it has hand winding in addition to the automatic movement. Great combo. I typically like the backs on automatic watches to where you can see the internals, but in this case I actually like the design of the back. I like the theme of this watch in general. I don't mind the 30m of water resistance but I'll probably end up getting a Bulova Mil-ship one of these days. Comparing it to my Seiko5 SNK809, I think the Bulova is the clear winner and worth the money. The Bulova may not have a day/date display like the Seiko5, but the Bulova hacks and hand winds, the Seiko does not. That's not a big deal to me as I can easily throw a couple pocket calendars with my prep stuff. Speaking of prepping, this is a great prepper's watch. Mechanical automatic movement means no worries about not being able to keep track of time in an EMP scenario. The only concern in that scenario would be forgetting to wind it and losing track of time. Just make sure to have a G-shock in a faraday cage bag along with other survival electronics like a solar USB rechargeable hub/power station, USB rechargeable batteries, electric lighters, radio, etc. so you can reference the G-shock watch when setting the time.

Really nice piece for the price - only one minor gripe
Keeps good time, looks extremely handsome and I really like the heritage of the watch (Bulova made a bunch of stuff in WW2). My only complaint is the bracelet - it's HUGE. The quality of it is adequate, but the smallest band is still too big for my small-but-not-mini wrist size so I'm gonna have to swap it out for something else. Given the case size, you'd expect the bracelet to be a better fit on smaller wrists, but alas. Minor gripe though as I say - wouldn't hesitate to buy it!

Instant classic!
If you're looking for a field watch, look no further! This watch looks great, has an excellent heritage, an accurate movement, and won't break the bank!

Perfect Field Watch for hiking
This is the best value for money as a field watch. I chose this after watching a few reviews on YouTube. The charity VWI is also another reason why I bought it. There's a lot of a cache with this watch, especially with the history. What I like most about it is the way it sits on my wrist. It's lite and easy to hike the Nevada trails with. I use to wear my other pieces such as Tudor to hike, but I did feel I can easily damage those pieces. This piece makes me enjoy my hikes without worrying about my time piece. The accuracy is nothing to rave about. I had +15 seconds in one test, not great. But good enough to use for the weekly hikes and walks. The legibility is great as well as the strap. I usually change straps but decided to keep this on. If Bulova sold 18mm straps on their site I would pick a black strap up. Overall this is a GREAT watch to hike and walk with. At the sale price point I don't mind banging this up and getting a new one.

I'm a watch Nerd with over 50 watches and this one has quickly become one of my top 5, 'go to' watches. If I lost it I would buy another one. Highly recommended as a practical and understated daily watch. Pros Well made with good brushing and polishing for the price. Crystal clear mineral glass. At this price sapphire crystal tend to be low quality and they do not show off the dial as well as mineral crystal. great luminosity in dark conditions. I have worn the watch overnight and can still read the time as the sun rises. the hands and dial also look cool in any low light situation. Small diameter so fits any wrist. Cheap but reliable Miyota mechanical movement. Mine is running at about -1 second per day (this is within Rolex territory). In general you have a very good chance of landing one that is within +/- 10 seconds a day. It can be much worse, so you could just send it back if you are not satisfied. Single pull on the winder enables the time to be reset (it hacks so second hand stops). Winder movement feels tight and smooth when you change time, or manually wind the watch. Fantastic simple and clear dial that has its own beautify in its simplicity. It oozes fuss-free understated competence. You are buying a watch with a back story (Bulova supplied watches to the American Marines during WW2 and they looked much like this). If you buy the special then you are also supporting ex-service personnel. Strap seems a bit flimsy, but in fact after 2 months I haven't changed it as it is very comfortable and still looks like new. Disappears on the wrist due to its size and comfort. One of the best true field watches around this price (you need to go to a Hamilton Khaki field for a jump in quality (but no necessarily in style or comfort). Matches any style from jeans and tee shirt to more formal clothing. cons Only 50 metres water resistance. some may find the strap a bit flimsy. It is quite a thick watch, but to me its small diameter doesn't make its thickness noticeable when wearing it. The rotor in the movement that winds the watch can be heard when the watch is close to your ears.
