The artwork of MinaLima for the Philiosopher's Stone makes me grin from ear to ear. Yes, I've confirmed that this is the UK version of the book. For now, I've only skimmed through to enjoy the artwork, but when I finish reading the rest of the books, I'll definitely be coming back to this illustrated edition to read the first book, the way that J.K. Rowling originally wrote it, no Americanization by Scholastic. The interactive elements that MinaLima included are neat and clever, but I feel that they're out-of-place in this book, and would be more appropriate in a separate, fully-interactive book that just hits the highlights of the Philosopher's Stone. The interactive elements make the pages stiff, and when you look at the closed book from the sides, there are some rather noticeable, rather unattractive gaps between the pages. Also, there's some narrow artwork that MinaLima squeezed between pages, where the pages curve to meet the spine, and it's frustrating how much that artwork is distorted by the curvature of the pages. Despite some unfortunate creative choices made with the MinaLima edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, I would still recommend it to someone looking for an illustrated edition of the book over Jim Kay's illustrated edition. Jim Kay's artwork is interesting, but I liken it to rough concept art, while I see MinaLima's artwork as polished, finalized art.

The book itself is great, the detail is very impressive. The reason for the rating is that the item is advertised as the original Philosopher's Stone and we got the Sorcerer’s Stone. It was a gift so it was put away and we noticed the difference too late to make an exchange.
