This is the best exterior coating
This is the best exterior coating. I have it on my Alta Log home. I just used it on a 20 year old wooden play set in the back yard and it looks better than brand new!

Great Coverage
We have been paying more for this Wood Finish Paint at our Log Home dealer. Checked online and found it much cheaper. Great product for wood homes, decks, log homes. I recommend it.

Good Finish
I am refinishing a very large totem pole, and selected this product based on its reputation for being long lasting. It is meant to be used as the first coat followed by 2 addiitonal coats of their "23" finish. I have had good experience with the Prolux Door and Window finish with other projects so expect similar results with this. Time will tell how well this holds up to sun and weather exposure in northern Michigan,My reason for lowering my rating to 3 stars is that the "natural" color (their lightest) I selected is much darker than I had hoped. I had hoped for a relatively clear appearance, but on the well sanded surface it goes on quite dark compared to spar polyurethane. With three coats and its pigments, I do expect the Prolux to hold up better to the elements, however. Keep in mind that all transparent and semi-tranparent finishes and stains degrade faster that opaque exterior paints because to their nature they let light pass through the coating, where UV rays can damage the coating.

Nice Finish
I was not expecting the great results I had with this. The wood really kept all of the characteristics I wanted, and after 2 months in the Florida sun and rain, still looks as good as the day I put it out. I held back 1 Star because of the price.

I first heard of this about 15 years ago when I noticed a neighbors house that had a cedar exterior that was so beautiful I assumed he had to do a ton of regular maintenance. He told me he put CETOL on it about 5 years ago. I was sold! I have since finished outside wood furniture that sits outside all year long in NORTHERN ILLINOIS. It lasts 6-7 years then I have to retouch. To retouch, you don't need to scrape like paint. Just sand away any greying areas and reapply. It's not recommended for metal but I HAVE USED IT ON METAL. I noticed that metal parts (fasteners, etc) of the wood items I finished never rusted! It says it is CLEAR, but it has a GOLDEN TINT, which I actually like and even used it on interior white pine just for the color. It is EXPENSIVE so I have never used it for a deck or anything that gets waking traffic. My guess is that it wouldn't last nearly as long. But for bare wood furniture, doors, etc. I only use CETOL CLEAR 078 and have been very satisfied for many years. One gallon goes a long way for me, so, it is well worth the price. Now, just like my neighbor with the cedar house, people always ask how I keep exterior wood looking so great,

confusing Label, wrong stuff shipped.
The label on the can is very similar to an older product I have used in the past,However, the stain I received is a completely different formulation. The new material requires two components, or twice the volume of paint, The older material required only one component.I sent the material back, But it still cost me postage, which is a lot.t

exterior application
This product with its counterpart Cetol 23 was applied to red cedar the coverage was great. The product was applied to a clean tacked surfaced but took weeks to cure out. In fact we finally had to apply a top coat of another product after sanding to get a proper finish. We purchased over 10 gallons of this product and was very disappointed. Cabbot oil based stain was cheaper and provided a better finish and curred out as it should within 48 hours.
