Forney 30681 E7018 AC Welding Rod, 3/32-Inch, 5-Pound

AC welding rod 3/32 5 lb. Husband says rod welded really nicely. Worked as it should. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item - your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. For some reason our shopper ranks are no longer visible - so, to give you a little more info about me, I am a top 50 reviewer (#30 the highest rank achieved). Those numbers used to fluctuate over time - up and down but I noticed that they stopped updating regularly - perhaps to phase them out. It's a shame because it did help you see who has been around the longest and who is a trustworthy reviewer. I've been doing reviews for over 25 years with Amazon - nearly 6,000 reviews posted, viewed over 50,000 times, and over 24,000 likes. I pay for all my stuff, just like you do.

I am really impressed with these. I've been welding (all forms) for about 35 years and wanted to try these on a little dual voltage DC* inverter type welder I got for repairs where there is 110-120 volts only. Two wonderful things really surprised me about these rods: (1) they flow and penetrate beautifully even at 90 amps on the little welder, and (2) restricking is very easy -- almost unheard of on 7018's. I'd recommend this rod without the slightest hesitation.*This AC rod works just great on DCEP (the electrode/stinger/rod holder is attached to the + on your machine). If curious, the particular dual voltage (works automatically with 110 OR 220 v) welder I happen to use is the low cost AHP160ST.

If your looking for 7018 to run on an old ac buzz box just buy them. I was sceptical being Ive never ran 7018 on ac. However with these rods they strike easy and run smooth @ 125 AMPS. You will get porosity if the material isnt clean, but thats known with 7018. Also, I vaccum seal my 7018 in 10 rod packs n open as needed. No real need for a hobbyists to own a rod oven.

Nice for what I do around the garage. I'm still trying to learn. I got the metal to weld together so I'm sure a pro could do a lot more with these than I can.

I love the forney brand. I love their customer support. I’ve bought three packages of rods from Amazon and they’re damaged. I recommend purchasing direct from forney.
