It's a really great book for goat farmers. Whether you are thinking about buying a few or you already have one or two, this book is definately a good read. Lots of detailed informations.

This book is BRILLIANT. It is easy to use, the author writes in very 'lay-person' terms, whilst educating and informing at the same time. The style of the book is set up so that each chapter can be flicked to if you just want to check a particular point or make reference quickly to something specific. I have only had it a few days and I have already been through it several times. I have learnt a lot of 'how tos' which I was having trouble finding in other books and publications I've read. This is truly a bible for those who are first time goat owners, but it will also come in handy for any experienced goat owner. The diagrams are simple and quite charming and the author's writing style is friendly and approachable and not at all condescending as some other 'how to' style books can be. This book is a gem and a must have - if you are a goat owner, get it on your bookshelf, you will use it all the time and be glad you have it. I give it a big thumbs up.

This book is truly comprehensive! I got it a couple of weeks before I got 2 goats, and it has been a lifesaver!The author writes in a style that is very readable and enjoyable. I liked all of her "been there, done that" stories in the book. Her examples were very helpful and interesting. This book really tells you everything you need to know to get started with goats!One thing I will mention - she does look at goats from a "pet" standpoint instead of a "livestock" standpoint. She spends a lot of time talking about how cute they are, etc. This works for me, because our goats are definitely pets, not food. But it might be a little annoying for someone who is trying to raise a herd of meat goats, for example.I'm really glad I got this book - I think my goats and I will be a lot happier now that I have all of this knowledge!

This book has proven to be profoundly helpful to me in raising and caring for my Nubian goats. I live on a small farm and knew nothing about goats. This book has walked me through every aspect of goat ownership from hoof trimming to vaccinations. Without the advice of Goats for Dummies, I would have been completely lost when my goat suddenly became deathly ill - with no vet in site. Fortunately, I had my book nearby, read the 2 most likely reasons for his illness and was able to keep him alive until I could get a vet to our farm the next day. My goat recovered fully. Money well spent!!!

A good read for goats, but has a lot of anecdotal information. There is a fair bit of opinion in this book, which a new goat owner may take as fact. I would recommend this book to a new goat owner, but would also encourage the purchase of another book. Not any one in particular, just another by a different author, so that you can see what's opinion, what's anecdote, and what is fact. Granted, I do not think anything contained in this book would harm your goat if you followed it strictly, but it's nice to k now there's more than one way of doing things.There are also a bunch of plans and instructions in here for building goat things, as well as recipes for goat meat and goat milk. Very interesting tid bits I was not expecting when I ordered it.

As someone that grew up having farm animals, I recently began to miss how relaxing they can be. I know that I don't have time to ride horses anymore and why get a giant cow as just a lawn ornament? Then, it hit me... how about goats??? Perfect. But, wait. I don't know anything about goats. AAAAH, but I do now. Every single question that I had about raising and owning goats was answered by this book. There was not a single topic that was not covered, from nutrition to vaccinations... plans for hay racks to the fact that my rose bushes are like goat-candy. I would recommend this book to anyone that is considering goats as pets or as a business.

If you are thinking of raising goats, this is a great resource to have. It is full of useful and informative content. Great for your bookshelf of reference materials.
